Miele update dishwasher range

Miele the German manufacturer, its sustainable G7000 dishwashing range incorporates a wide range of eco-friendly features and user conveniences such as its AutoDos automatic detergent dispensing system with PowerDisk, along with AutoOpen Drying, 3D MultiFlex Tray and 10+ programmes. Easy to use via app or voice control, Miele says its new dishwashers save time, money, energy and water and are ultra-quiet, making them perfect for open-plan kitchens.

Combined with superior cleaning performance and user convenience, Miele says its G7000 collection is a seriously sustainable solution for any home as over the last 20 years, Miele has successfully reduced the energy consumption of its dishwashers by 44%.EcoPower Technology

Miele’s G7000 dishwashers feature EcoPower technology and precisely matching components, including greater precision of the spray arms and precise alignment of the spray jets. Combined with a highly efficient filtration system and intelligently designed water intake with additional insulation to retain heat, the appliances use less energy for optimum performance, Miele says.

AutoDos with PowerDisk

The AutoDos with integrated PowerDisk is another sustainable benchmark from Miele, the company says. Automatic dispensing adjusts the amount of detergent, ensuring that only the precise amount of water, energy and detergent needed is released according to how dirty the dishes are and the programme selected. In future, Miele claims that it will also be possible to adjust automatic dispensing via the menu, giving users the option to further reduce detergent consumption for lightly soiled crockery or to increase it for baked-on dirt and grease. The eco-friendly PowerDisk dispenser itself is made from recycled plastic waste. In addition, Miele will soon be launching its PowerDisk All in 1 Eco, a bio-degradable detergent made from plant-based ingredients – free from fragrances, preservatives and colourants.

App and Voice Control

All Miele G 7000 dishwashers with AutoDos can be connected to the Internet via WiFi and controlled via the Miele Conn@ct app from any mobile or Amazon Alexa. It is possible to start and stop the dishwasher from anywhere, activate programmes and options, check levels, receive automated reminders and even order detergent online.

The AutoStart function allows the dishwashers to be set to start regularly at the same time and as the detergent is already added, users are in control of their dishwashing anytime, anywhere, Miele says. If the door is not opened between two scheduled cycles with no new dishes added, the start of the next cycle is automatically delayed

The new and updated models in Miele’s G 7000 dishwashing collection includes freestanding, semi-integrated and fully integrated models so there is a design to suit different kitchen requirements. All are “A” rated for energy efficiency, use only 6L of water per cycle, as well as benefitting from low noise levels (41dB – 43dB).
freestanding G 7410 SC model is available in Brilliant White and CleanSteel. It features a TFT display and ten programmes including QuickPowerWash which provides a full A rated wash and dry programme in just 58 minutes. All cycles are also water and energy efficient for eco-friendly dishwashing every time. AutoOpen drying at the end of all cycles ensures perfectly dried crockery, Tupperware and cutlery while saving energy.

Semi-Integrated

Miele G 7200 SCi in Brilliant White

The semi-integrated G 7200 SCi model comes in Brilliant White or CleanSteel and features eight programmes including Express and Intense Zone options as well as a 3D MultiFlex tray which can be configured in nine different ways for flexible cutlery storage. Available in Stainless Steel/Black, they feature AutoOpen Drying, 3D MultiFlex tray, acoustic signal and boast a quiet 42dB noise level. AutoOpen drying at the end of all cycles ensures perfectly dried crockery, Tupperware and cutlery while saving energy.

Global small domestic appliance (SDA) market is forecast to reach $581.6bn (€508.5bn) by 2030

According to a new report by by Research and Markets, the global small domestic appliance (SDA) market is forecast to reach $581.6bn (€508.5bn) by 2030, registering a CAGR of 13.0% from 2021 to 2030.

The main drivers for growth include growing demand from an increasingly urbanised population, increased personal disposable income, and affordable credit facilities. Another significant factor in the upward trend is a surge in innovation in home appliances, encouraging consumers to replace their old models with new “smarter” versions.

According to Research and Markets’ report, the COVID-19 pandemic has also positively impacted the overall growth of the small domestic appliances market.

It says that during the lockdown period, people were choosing to invest in their homes, including the replacement of their old appliances with smart and advanced models.

In addition, due to an increased focus on health, small domestic appliances that promote greater levels of hygiene also saw an uptick.

Europe gained significant share in the global small domestic appliances market in 2020 and is expected to sustain its share during the forecast period, the report said.

A considerable growth rate is anticipated for new, advanced and smart residential and commercial appliances for the residential and commercial segment. In addition, there has been a huge increase in demand from the major countries in Europe such as France, Spain, the UK and Russia.

Increasing preference for a hassle-free lifestyle and growing industrial application of air purifiers and vacuum cleaners
are all supporting the growth of small domestic appliances in the region, the report stated. Product innovation and quick adoption for the technologically advanced appliances are further adding to the growth of the small domestic appliances market in Europe.

At the same time, high prices and high popularity of both residential and commercial small domestic appliance brands has led to the advent of counterfeit brands, the report said. These are generally prevalent in the developing economies where customers are highly price-sensitive, Research and Markets commented. This factor is said to restrict the sale of the existing original small domestic appliances brands in these regions.

The major players operating in the market, according to Research and Markets, include Koninklijke Philips N.V., The Whirlpool Corporation, LG Electronics Inc., Bosch, Electrolux AB, Panasonic Corporation, Spectrum Brands Holdings, Inc., The Middleby Corporation, Morphy Richards, and Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd.

Miele partnership with Loxone

Miele promotes intelligent energy management for domestic appliances. Thanks to the partnership with Loxone, Miele washing machines, tumble dryers and dishwashers can be integrated into a versatile smart network so that they start automatically using ‘home-grown’ electricity from a rooftop PV array. As a specialist in the field of building automation, Loxone even goes one step further and offers interconnected systems for greater convenience and security.

Concretely, Miele domestic appliances and other pieces of electrical equipment are connected to the centrepiece of the Loxone system, a mini-server. The user loads a washing machine, tumble dryer or dishwasher in the morning and then sets a time by which, for example, the laundry should be finished. The mini-server then coordinates the start of programmes on the Miele appliances and other equipment, depending on the surplus energy produced by the PV installation. If, during the course of the day, there is insufficient ‘home-grown’ electricity, the system switches to the grid.

Home automation with Loxone covers further areas such as air conditioning, multimedia, wellness, security and lighting. So, Miele cooker hoods can be integrated into lighting scenarios for atmospheric ambient lighting. Safety is enhanced by a ‘leaving home routine’ where the system reminds the home owner that the hob is still switched on and even switches it off on leaving the premises. It is desirable, on the other hand, for a Scout RX 3 robotic vacuum cleaner only to set to work when occupants have left the building.

With Loxone, Miele has attracted yet another strong partner in the field of smart home technology. Cooperation partners with their own connectivity platforms already include Busch-Jaeger/ABB with their free@home system, the Olisto app, Magenta SmartHome, Amazon Alexa and, in future, also Google Assistant.

Electrolux launches food recognition for the smartphone

Electrolux Group launches a food recognition feature for the smartphone that makes cooking easier for consumers. With CamCook consumers simply have to take a photo of their dish with a smartphone, and the app will set the oven to bake it just right. An artificial intelligence algorithm is used to recognize 20 predefined dishes from pizza to lasagna to cakes, then sends the settings to the oven. The users can also build their own library of favorite dishes, as the app can be ‘taught’ to recognize dishes and recall the settings next time. CamCook is now live in the MyAEG Kitchen and MyElectrolux Kitchen Apps in Europe, with plans to roll it out globally. “Enabling consumers to save their favorite dishes and preferred cooking settings in their Electrolux or AEG digital cookbook adds a lot of value to the connected experience of our ovens. In addition, adding visual food recognition with CamCook is setting us apart from the competition, with Electrolux at the forefront when it comes to building innovative digital capabilities to turn consumers into confident cooks”, commented Christopher Duncan, Electrolux Category Director, Ovens & Smart Kitchen.
