AEG completely renews the washing and drying ranges. Redesigned in terms of design, technologies and connectivity, the new washing machines, washer-dryers and dryers received the 2022 Red Dot Design Awards for the functional and aesthetic quality achieved. Four series, distinguished by their main characteristics. The new models equipped with connection, on the market from April 2023, are in fact designed to be able to learn from the user’s habits and offer a personalized experience at each wash thanks to the My AEG Care app .
Implemented with new functions and improved in terms of information, the application sends ad hoc notifications that can be viewed on the display of the appliances: if the suggestion is accepted, the machine downloads and incorporates the new settings, to adapt to everyone’s needs. Plus, by pairing the My AEG Care app with Google , just use your voice to adjust the temperature, turn on, pause or turn off. Not only. pressing the SyncDry button on the dryer, the latter and the washing machine are automatically connected to each other. Once the washing program has been selected, the special function establishes the most suitable drying cycle based on the weight of the washing machine load, setting the execution timer. Finally, for maximum customization, it is possible to save up to three favorite programs directly on the control panel, so as to always have them at hand.
The recycled plastic content and advanced food preservation features of our new built-in refrigerators have been well received by consumers. Simona Oboroceanu, Category Marketing Manager from the Food Preservation team at Electrolux tells us why.
Hi Simona! Tell us more about our breakthrough in incorporating recycled plastic in our refrigerators.
The Electrolux Group has developed a new line of built-in refrigerators – the Electrolux 500-900 Series and AEG 5000-9000 Series – that we’re currently launching in Europe. The recent launches have inner liners made from 70% recycled plastic, which equates to 13% of the total plastic used in the refrigerator. We are the first in the world to incorporate this much recycled plastic into a refrigerator so it’s an important industry breakthrough.
The plastic is sourced from a specialty supplier that collects and refines plastic from discarded refrigerators in Europe. It is very important that we work with strong and reliable partners that can provide access to high-quality recycled materials.
The range has been well received at fairs such as IFA in Berlin as the industry sees the product as being concrete proof that we take sustainability seriously.
How have consumers responded to the inner liners made from recycled plastic?
Consumers have responded very positively to the inner liners, and they perceive the gray shade of plastic as being more premium than standard white liners. They favor products made from recycled materials and our research has shown they want this kind of refrigerator with recycled materials.
How do our built-in fridges help retain nutrients and avoid food waste?
The recent launches have an innovative GreenZone crisper drawer to keep fruit and vegetables fresh. They are offered in two versions – one with a manual vent that consumers can open or close depending on how full the drawer is and an automatic version. The automatic crisper has a membrane that allows ingredients to breathe by regulating and optimizing humidity.
Third-party studies have shown that our GreenZone crisper drawer can retain 95% of the vitamin C in blueberries after 11 days. None of our competitors use this kind of innovative membrane so it is a clear competitive advantage for us.
The recent launches also use innovative cooling technology that keeps the temperature stable to help ingredients last longer. One of the solutions is Cooling 360, which maintains a more stable temperature distribution, to preserve food for longer by avoiding temperature shocks and stress on food. Our TwinTech® No Frost also keeps food hydrated with independent cooling systems for the fridge and the freezer parts.
What do customers think about these enhanced abilities to help preserve ingredients?
Consumers immediately understand the value to them – not only in terms of retaining the vitamins in their ingredients for their health, but also making ingredients last longer and ultimately helping them to avoid food waste. Importantly, consumers really value the third-party verified fact-based claims we make. At Electrolux Group we’re committed to help consumers live better, more sustainable lives in the home and this refrigerator line reflects that.
Consumers have shown increased interest in healthy eating, particularly since the pandemic, and we go beyond the standard refrigerator offering by helping them to maintain the vitamin content and quality of the food they eat. Also, people are becoming increasingly conscious of food waste and the materials that are used to manufacture their products.
Will they be launched in other markets in 2023?
Yes, as well as continuing to roll out these innovations across Europe in 2023, we are looking at launching in other regions, such as Asia Pacific, in the coming years. Watch this space!
Kitchen solutions that improve the cooking experience and simplify everyday tasks are proving increasingly popular. By linking a connected #AEG oven to the #GoogleHome app, consumers receive help with daily functions such as turning their oven on and off, or selecting the right cooking program and desired temperature.
Voice integration with our connected ovens means these features can be controlled with simple voice commands, enhancing the experience of being in your kitchen, whether it’s hands-free cooking or just an easier way to interact with the oven.
New AEG wine cellar (model AWUD040B8B) is characterized by a linear aesthetics and a refined Matt Black nuance. It has 5 shelves (3 of which are made of wood and can be pulled out on telescopic guides) and stores up to 40 bottles of wine at an adjustable temperature from 5°C to 20°C and with a humidity percentage above 50%. The temperature can be constantly monitored through the electronic control via the LCD Touch Control display. In addition, the double upper LED lighting and the three-layer glass, resistant to the UV rays, safeguard the bottles. Other pluses of the product are: the acoustic and luminous alarms that signal when the door is open or the temperature is not suitable for storing the bottles; the activated carbon filter, the low noise, the concealed handle and the reversible door with hinging on the right.
AEG/ Electrolux are launching new energy saving laundry range at global tech event IFA Berlin this week,
The new range of washing machines and tumble dryers automatically adjust time, water and energy usage. A new add-on filter catches up to 90% of microplastic fibers released by synthetic clothing.
“We innovate to make life easier and more enjoyable while enabling people to make more sustainable choices,” says Chris Braam, Head of Business Area Europe.
AEG is presenting a new range of refrigerators at the IFA. The innovative series includes a fridge that can reduce food waste by up to 20% and uses recycled plastic for the interior.
According to the manufacturer, the new range consumes up to 20% less CO2 emissions than previous ones. In addition, more than 80% of the materials can be recycled . “This makes the new series one of the most sustainable that is currently available on the market ,” says AEG.
“Food waste affects us all. 30% of CO2 emissions come from food production . A third of all food ends up in the garbage , around 60% of people throw away food at least once a week. That’s why we put the design sketches aside and started with the global problem. In doing so, we have succeeded in developing a range of refrigeration appliances that can help to reduce food waste, preserve food longer and reduce energy consumption and therefore costs,”
three models 6000 TwinTech® NoFrost, 7000 GreenZone and 8000 Cooling 360° are part of an integrated range of cooling devices designed to ensure greater sustainability.
AEG has gained certification for selected programmes across several of its appliances from leading test competence centre, Swissatest Testmaterialien AG.
The certification from Swissatest means consumers can have confidence that these programmes show an outstanding efficiency to remove bacteria and viruses. This certification applies to the following cycles on a number of AEG products including washing machines, tumble dryers and dishwashers, all of which will show the Swissatest logo:
For washing machines/washer dryers: The Anti Allergy/Anti Allergy Vapour programme removes more than 99.99% of bacteria and viruses including Staphylococcus aureus, Enterococcus faecium;
For tumble-dryers: The Hygiene/Duvet cycle removes more than 99.9% of bacteria and viruses including Candida albicans and Escherichia coli; and
For dishwashers: The ExtraHygiene function removes more than 99.9999% of bacteria and viruses including Micrococcus luteus and MS2 bacteriophage.
Luke Harding, general manager at Electrolux, said: “We know there are a great number of people who are concerned about bacteria and virus spread, particularly in light of the past 18 months.
“We are therefore delighted to be able to offer certified programmes which can remove up to 99.9999% of certain bacteria and viruses. This collaboration with Swissatest supports our company goal of helping to shape living for the better. It should also hopefully give some peace of mind to our consumers.”
recent research undertaken by AEG, tackling germs was very much front of mind with consumers. The research found that one in five of all Europeans polled had increased the number of times they were doing the laundry due to COVID-19 – 14% of all Europeans cited ‘getting rid of germs’ as the main reason for washing clothes.
Iain Wareham, Electrolux’s head of product line care, said: “This is an incredibly important piece of work with absolute relevance in the times we are now living in. In order to achieve it, we involved people across the business including from R&D, product, marketing, fabric care and dish care.
“We are proud to have met the challenging test requirements set by Swissatest and delighted to be able to share the news with consumers.”
Christian Portmann, chief executive of Swissatest, said: “While it is not uncommon for programmes to target the removal of bacteria, the high performance against virus removal within AEG products is remarkable.
“This is the very first time, that we, as a scientific test institute and test material producer, are able to share our comprehensive view on washing processes with the end user, taking cleaning performance, sustainability and hygiene aspects into account
