KitchenAid FreeFlex Dishwasher

Whirlpool Corporation is proud to announce that KitchenAid FreeFlex Dishwasher triumphed for exceptional product design at the internationally prestigious Red Dot Awards 2023.

The awards seek out the year’s best products, with a jury of 43 international experts identifying outstanding products that shine through high #aesthetic excellence, technical #innovation, and smarter functionality.

“We are incredibly proud to have once again been honored at the Red Dot Design Awards. At Whirlpool Corp., we believe that great design goes beyond aesthetic beauty but also how products can enhance and elevate everyday life,” said Olga Loskutova, Vice President Product and Brand Marketing EMEA, Whirlpool Corp.

Green product award to the Miele dishwasher

Tenth edition for the Green Product Award . In the kitchen category, the award went to the fully integrated Miele model G 7465 SCVi XXL AutoDos. The international jury appreciated “In particular, the transparency of energy and water consumption through the app involves the consumer who seeks greater sustainability and makes him responsible”. This is the new consumption panel in the Miele app, which displays how often a program is used weekly, monthly or annually and how much water and electricity it actually uses. The app also compares the average values of the programs and provides ecological advice.

The awards are organized by the Green Future Club, a network of sustainable innovators and experts with a vision for a near future where all products are sustainable. The club organizes awards, exhibitions and networking events, supports young designers and publishes the annual Green Trend Book with international best practices. Nils Bader , promoter of the award, emphasizes: “ With the awards, we present existing, future and, of course, sustainable alternatives and network the players. With the exhibition and the talks we want to surprise and show what is already possible. No one should do things randomly, but plan, design and ultimately consume with a different perspective in the future .”Innovative water feed for washing with less water
In the ECO programme, water consumption is reduced to 8.9 litres. This also means that less energy is required to heat the water, and you benefit from an energy-efficient dishwasher. The water savings are achieved through the intelligent design of the supply system and a new, highly efficient filter system. Additional insulation reduces thermal losses and thus the amount of energy required to heat the water.

AMEDA call for water usage

AMDEA CEO Paul Hide has backed possible plans for more appliances to have water usage information in a bid to help householders reduce consumption and bills.

He voiced AMDEA’s support for such additional information in a podcast with UK supplier Affinity Water.

The changes to labelling requirements may come about as part of a Defra review which is yet to publish its findings. Water consumption information per cycle is already mandatory for washing machines, washer dryers and dishwashers but the Government may extend the requirement to a wider range of appliances.

Mr Hide said: “The labelling of white goods is a good thing primarily for helping people to understand the water consumption – alongside the energy consumption – of their appliances, and equally how to minimise that consumption both from an environmental impact and a cost perspective. We certainly support that provision of useful information.”

He stressed the importance of having one label only providing water and energy usage, rather than separate labels, and for any labelling to be easily understood so it could help people make well-informed decisions.

“We are very focused as an industry on improving people’s understanding of sustainability and how to use appliances the most economically – both for water and energy,”  Mr Hide said, referencing AMDEA’s award-winning Know Watt’s What campaign.

He also emphasised AMDEA’s work with housebuilders and regulators in the drive towards net zero homes, whether for new builds or for improvements to existing homes.

Asked what he would like to see in homes to improve water consumption, he answered smarter water meters that could show users how much water individual appliances were using.

Miele new commercial dishwasher

New commercial dishwashers from Miele’s MasterLine series are the products of choice: The proven fresh water system takes in fresh water for each phase of the programme and uses high temperatures to remove soil and reliably deal with viruses and bacteria. In the course of everyday work, short cycles make for efficient processes. These models are ideal for kindergartens and nurseries.

Thanks to their large touch display, all models from the MasterLine series are intuitive to use, even when wearing gloves. M Touch Basic and M Touch Flex represent two sets of controls giving fast access to favourites and allowing individual adjustment to programmes – intuitive thanks to plain text, symbols and 32 languages. The M Touch Flex version with its colour display takes user convenience to the next level. For example, programme names can be changed in order to eliminate operating errors. The individual stages of operation are explained in short, informative sequences.

The new dishwashers remove 99.999% of most bacteria, even in the ‘Super Short’ programme with its cycle time of only 5 minutes. For verifiable and above-average virucidal efficacy, the Institute for Integrative Hygiene and Virology – InFluenc_H has awarded this series its Virus Seal of Approval in Gold. Security functions enable even greater safety. These include a door lock which prevents unauthorised access during a running programme.

Virus Seal of Approval in Black for particularly high standards of hygiene

In addition to this, the model PFD 407 has been awarded the Seal of Approval in Black which defines even higher standards. This model with its Vario TD programme offers thermal disinfection, otherwise only the preserve of the medical sector, removing even more than 99.99% of enveloped and non-enveloped viruses (for example Corona, Influenza and the Norovirus).

All models clean crockery thoroughly and remove stubborn food residues. Redesigned baskets improving the use of space simplify loading and offer ample space on two rack levels. To ensure that light-weight parts such as learn-to-drink cups and their lids stay put throughout the cycle, Miele offers special-purpose basket inserts. There is also a matching basket for up to 16 bottles or other items such as thermos flasks, guaranteeing thorough cleaning on the inside.

Several models feature Miele’s innovative Dry+ technology. This active drying system extends programmes by 8 minutes and dispenses with the need to use a tea-towel, reducing the workload of staff. Without the least manual intervention, plates, cups and cutlery are ready for use again in next to no time, even if they consist entirely or partly of plastics.

Order cleaning chemicals online

The new MasterLine dishwashers connect to the Miele MOVE online portal. This allows users to track how many machines are in use from the convenience of a smartphone or tablet – even listing which programmes are most frequently used. And there’s another practical feature: The simple ordering of detergents and other chemicals via a direct link to the Miele Professional Shop.

Similarly, process data vital in ensuring hygienic clean crockery, for instance temperatures and cycle times, can be saved with Miele MOVE and, if necessary, exported. This allows users to furnish proof of hygiene programmes having successfully completed.

MasterLine dishwashers can also be installed in a tall unit. These models meet all the provisions of the European Machinery Directive, which is essential if machines are to be used in a commercial environment, and they are made from durable materials. Tested for 28,000 cycles, these machines guarantee spotless crockery for many years.

LG QuadWash dishwasher leverages state of the art steam technology

LG Electronics (LG) is looking to set new standards for dishwashers with its latest LG QuadWash Steam, equipped with the company’s exclusive TrueSteam technology.
According to the brand, its new dishwasher is “revolutionary”, and sets itself apart from the competition with steam technology that promises to not only clean more effectively, but also more efficiently. LG says the dishwasher’s host of unique performance-enhancing technologies “offer a game-changing way to wash dishes”.

How the technology works
TrueSteam emits high temperature steam consisting of tiny particles to clean everything from delicate stemware to steel pots and pans, easily separating stains and leftovers from dishes, LG says. And, the technology is said to soak and loosen tough caked-on food before the main washing cycle.

By spraying steam at the end of a cycle, the LG QuadWash Steam dishwasher reduces undesirable water spots – one of the most common complaints of dishwasher users – by up to 30%, LG claims.

As well as promising impeccable results in cleaning, LG believes it also offers similar results where hygiene is concerned, while hot and pure steam particles from boiling water ensure that all dishes undergo thorough hygienic cleaning.

Another core technology of the dishwasher, QuadWash features four spray arms instead of the two which is more common in other dishwashers.

The multi-motion arms sweep and rotate back and forth while spinning in both directions to clean plates, glassware, and cookware of all shapes and sizes from nearly every angle. Thanks to multi-directional water streams shot by the spinning attachments, LG says its dishwasher offers a more thorough clean.

The dishwasher is powered by the Inverter Direct Drive Motor, which is designed to boost energy efficiency and reduce noise. The motor also adjusts water intensity to allow the soft settings necessary for fragile dishware in the upper rack and a stronger setting for pots and pans in the lower level. This versatility offers more effective cleaning without damaging the dishware, LG says.

In addition, the EasyRack Plus system promises “outstanding” flexibility and convenience, adjusting to just about any load of dishes, even long-stem wine glasses, LG notes. With one touch, the upper rack’s height is adjustable to three levels.

Finally, LG ThinQ technology has elevated the functionality of a dishwasher to ease daily life for consumers. With the handy LG ThinQ app, users can start or stop the dishwasher from anywhere, monitor cycle time and even get an alert when the dishes are clean to have the kids unload the dishwasher before they get home. QuadWash Steam dishwasher offers nine pre-set wash cycles selectable from the app.

Song Dae-hyun, president of LG Electronics and Home Appliance & Air Solution Company, commented: “LG QuadWash Steam dishwasher offers everything consumers expect from an LG appliance: convenience, flexibility and especially performance. Steam technology offers the perfect balance of superior performance with gentle care, and this kind of innovation has practical and convenience-boosting purpose that customers expect from LG.”

There is a range of five models to choose from available in both freestanding, in silver and black, and integrated; these include the DF222FPS, DF325FPS, DF455HMS, DB325TXS and DB425TXS.

Retailers in the UK will include LG and John Lewis initially, and then Curry’s, AO, Marks Electrical, and Appliance City too. Availability in Europe and the rest of the world is not yet known.
