Bosch series 8 heat pump dryer

Bosch have launched its new Series 8 heat pump dryers, which reach the class A+++ -10% ensuring a high level of energy efficiency. The heat pump technology significantly reduces the environmental impact thanks also to the use of R290 propane gas. The self-cleaning condenser uses the condensation water produced during the drying in order to remove the lint that settles on it in each cycle and which, over time, tends to reduce the efficiency: this process is carried out for up to 4 times for each drying cycle, keeping the condenser constantly clean. The new models are equipped with advanced functions such as Iron Assist (a steam treatment that softens the garments, reduces the creases and refreshes clothes by removing the odors), Hygiene Plus (against germs, bacteria, mites and common allergens) and the option for reduced loads. Furthermore, with the Sheets program an alternating bidirectional rotation is carried out to avoid the tangling of the items: in this way large and small items can be dried together. The dryers can be connected to the Home Connect app which offers additional programs and constant software updates. Besides, with Smart Dry – thanks to the wireless technology and the Home Connect app – the washing machine sends the information of the last wash cycle to the dryer, such as the load quantity and the residual humidity: the dryer then automatically selects the most suitable drying program for the washed laundry

BSH group will implement Matter in smart kitchen appliances from 2024

At the beginning of 2024, the BSH group, producer of well-known household brands such as Bosch, Siemens, Gaggenau and Neff, will switch to using Matter technology, the latest technology in smart home connectivity. The refrigerators are the first to go, specifically the spacious XXL built-in fridge-freezer combinations. In Matter 1.2, a large number of household appliances have been added, including refrigerators, dishwashers and washing machines.

The BSH group, which includes heavyweights such as Bosch and Siemens, is at the forefront of this innovation as some of their appliances are already connected via the cloud and can be controlled remotely with Home Connect.

Matter 1.2 promises a seamless connection between various home appliances, and BSH plans to adopt this standard in their refrigerators that will allow users to control the temperature remotely. While details on which current models will support Matter have not yet been announced, it is likely that only more recent devices will be compatible.

Furthermore, in 2024, the Bosch Smart Home controller will function as a Matter bridge, which will play a crucial role in the new ecosystem of connected devices. This will herald a gradual transition to a fully Matter-compatible smart home system, although it is still unclear when other appliances such as washing machines and dishwashers will follow.

Matter does not yet support everything; for example, there is no support for cameras yet. Nevertheless, this update marks an important step forward in the world of smart kitchen appliance

Bosch @IFA2023

The healthy refrigerator
Bosch raises the standard for new refrigerators – upwards and outwards. One of the producer’s visions is to reduce food waste.
Bosch took us into the laboratory and the dreams of the white goods of the future.
The German manufacturer Bosch raises the standard for refrigerators. An XL refrigerator must in future be 194 centimeters high and 77 centimeters wide. It creates, depending on the consumer’s choice of model, between 21 and 45% more “useful content” in the fridge.
Bosch states that more than 50% of consumers today declare themselves “very interested in healthy nutrition and healthy foods”. Bosch has translated this statement into a “healthy refrigerator”, where bio-based plastics and simpler, lighter components are already used in the production phase, saving 33% of materials already in production.

In addition, the XL fridge is a weapon in the fight against food waste: a less crowded fridge automatically means more order, more overview and less food waste.

Bosch presented figures showing that 22% of consumers today already have connected, “smart” appliances. Bosch sees connectivity and artificial intelligence as the very key to sustainability:

“Take auto-dispensing detergent as an example. Auto-dos saves 38% of detergent compared to when people dose themselves. Add to that that a mini-wash saves approx. 50% water compared to a normal wash. It is precisely the smart products and the human consideration that can lead us to the sustainable use of white goods”, said de.t

34% of German consumers emphasize that white goods are smart when making new purchases. More than 40% are willing to pay more for smart devices.

Bosch develops most of its new products in Germany, which is naturally emphasized in an IFA context, where the large audience is German. But the manufacturer also had concrete news from the local development laboratories: from 2024 all Bosch washing machines are in energy class A.

Not only Bosch delivers here. I wonder if we are moving towards a new rescaling of the pan-European energy labels

Bosch factory Russia

Bosch’s two idle manufacturing sites near St. Petersburg are set to be purchased by Chinese household appliances manufacturer Hisense, German multinational previously said that Ukraine-related sanctions had either interrupted most of its business in Russia, or brought it to a standstill for many months.

Hisense has already purchased some Russian assets belonging to Bosch, one of the sources told the media.

Bosch reportedly announced an internal tender earlier this year, with Hisense and another Chinese appliance maker, Midea, as well as an unnamed Turkish investor, emerging as potential bidders. The German corporation used to produce refrigerators and washing machines at its two production sites in the suburbs of St. Petersburg. Bosch’s Russian division received most of its components from EU countries.

BSH defends vacuum cleaner patent against Electrolux

The German Federal Court of Justice has upheld a vacuum cleaner patent owned by German manufacturer BSH, thus overturning a first-instance ruling. It is now likely that infringement proceedings will resume. A parallel dispute in Sweden has resulted in a referral to the CJEU concerning jurisdictional questions.Since 2007, BSH Hausgeräte and Electrolux have been fighting over vacuum cleaner technology. Now the German Federal Patent Court has upheld a patent owned by BSH, meaning suspended proceedings in Düsseldorf could now resume

Bosch CompactClass Extra American coffee machine

Bosch CompactClass Extra American coffee machine (model TKA3A034) is equipped with revolving filter holder: to prepare the coffee easily, user only has to rotate this part and insert the paper filter and the coffee. The 1100 Watt heating preserves the aroma at all times and the automatic shut-off function ensures safety and energy savings: the machine switches off automatically after keeping the coffee warm for 40 minutes. In addition, the DripStop system prevents dripping and stains both during and after the operation. The appliance has a 1.2 liter water tank for the preparation of 10/15 cups (small/large coffee/tea). Miele presents Pioneering GmbH

Miele has founded its own incubator in order to further promote the development of innovative solutions from within the ranks of the workforce and implement them faster. With Pioneering GmbH, Miele is ensuring a creative environment in which internal start-ups can bring their ideas to fruition faster, well away from established structures. Management of Pioneering GmbH is to be shared by Ina Nordsiek, Director Intrapreneurship within the business unit, and Hendrik Stegelmann, Director Digital Innovation and Products with Smart Home. Both will assume their new responsibilities alongside their existing tasks.

Particular attention will be paid to promoting business ideas which represent a strategic fit but are outside Miele’s previous core business field. «With Pioneering GmbH – Nordsiek explains – we are offering administrative freedom and elbow room and a professional and inspiring environment in which we bring together the best of the start-up and the Miele world». As Stegelmann added, «on the one hand, teams have the liberties and autonomy of a start-up whilst on the other being able to fall back on the support of a globally active family company».

In more concrete terms, ideas for innovative business models, product or process solutions from the New Growth Factory or Smart Home are transferred to the new company which, after careful evaluation by Miele, are considered promising. Once there, development of the so-called Minimum Viable Product continues through to market maturity, initial discussions with potential customers and market trials under real-life conditions. If the business case overcomes this hurdle, it is either integrated at Miele or pursued further as a separate start-up founded at that point

Bosch awarded for its smart home

Bosch was named “Connected Home Company of the Year” in the 6th annual IoT Breakthrough Awards program conducted by IoT Breakthrough, a market intelligence organization that recognizes the top companies, technologies and products in the global Internet-of-Things (IoT) market today. The German brand offers a range of home appliances across its product categories to be remotely controlled and monitored with a single app. Many of these innovations are integrated with the Home Connect smart platform, allowing consumers to remotely monitor and control their major appliance from a smart device.

«While we seek to bring excitement into the home, Bosch has a firm belief that appliances and technology should first offer true value in simplifying everyday life, rather than innovating something just for the sake of innovation – said Bosch Senior Brand Manager, Diana Lunzer-. We believe that connectivity should begin with a superior appliance, automating the mundane while still allowing users to enjoy kitchen and household activities without the gimmicks.»

The Home Connect app works with Bosch ovens, cooktops, range hoods, refrigerators, dishwashers, coffee machines, and laundry pairs. The one-stop app allows users to intelligently manage and organize household tasks while controlling functionality, receiving alerts, and automating certain processes with each appliance.
