Miele increase turnover

Even with ongoing difficulties caused by the pandemic, Miele grew significantly with a 7.5% increase in turnover in the 2021 business year. In total, sales of EUR 4.84 bn were reached. With our particularly durable and energy-efficient appliances, our entry into the processing of green steel and CO2 neutrality on balance across all sites, Miele is at the same time further strengthening its efforts towards meeting Paris climate targets.

However, due to the geopolitical situation and resulting uncertainties, Miele has suspended the supply of appliances to Russia entirely, above and beyond EU sanctions. This applies with immediate effect and until further notice.

V-ZUG financial report

The V-ZUG Group continued its growth trajectory in the 2021 financial year. Net sales once again saw a significant jump of 9.5% (CHF 623.7 million; previous year CHF 569.4 million), as did the operating result with +27.5% (CHF 62.7 million; previous year CHF 49.2 million). Thanks to these record sales, the medium-term double-digit EBIT margin target was achieved ahead of schedule in the year under review. This gratifying result was driven above all by continued high demand in the Swiss Market and strong growth in international business. The second half of the year was marred for the V-ZUG Group, as it was for the entire industrial environment, by the challenges posed by the intensifying supply chain situation and the associated increase in purchase prices for materials and logistics services.

The V-ZUG Group is still expecting a positive sales performance in excess of +6% for the 2022 financial year, thanks to full order books in Switzerland and across our International Markets. For the latter, sustained sales growth in excess of 10% per year is expected over the next few years. Major uncertainties persist in relation to the war in Ukraine and to developments in supply chains and purchase prices, whereby the latter is not expected to ease much before the end of 2022. Accordingly, the EBIT margin in the first half of 2022 is expected to be within the realm of that of the second half of 2021. Subject to any relevant and lasting geopolitical upheavals, the Group is aiming for an EBIT margin of 10% for the full 2022 financial year, given the high sales and revenue expectations and effective cost control.

Another significant rise in operating result

V-ZUG Group’s net sales rose compared with the previous year, standing at CHF 623.7 million (previous year CHF 569.4 million), with both the Swiss Market (+5.4%) and strong growth in the International Markets (+40.5%) contributing to this. Internationally, both the own-brand business (+26.5%) and the OEM business (+91.9%) performed exceptionally well. Furthermore, for the first time in its history, V-ZUG delivered more than 500,000 appliances to its customers in a single calendar year.

At CHF 62.7 million, the operating result (EBIT) was 27.5% higher than the previous year’s figure of CHF 49.2 million. With an EBIT margin of 10.0% (previous year 8.6%), the V-ZUG Group reached its medium-term target of a double-digit EBIT margin as announced as part of its stock market listing for the first time. Operational productivity as measured by the EBITDA margin increased to 15.2% (previous year 14.0%). As mentioned in the 2021 Half-Year Report, rising materials prices and supply shortages – particularly of microprocessors – resulted in a significant drop in the EBIT margin from 12.4% in the first half of 2021 to 7.7% in the second half of the year, particularly as sales price increases did not take effect until the fourth quarter of 2021.

In the 2021 financial year, the V-ZUG Group’s cash flow from operating activities totalled CHF 63.5 million (previous year CHF 99.4 million), and free cash flow (after investment activities) totalled CHF 9.0 million (previous year CHF 42.0 million). The difference from the previous year is primarily due to higher stock levels and tax payments alongside continuing high levels of investment.

As at 31 December 2021, the balance sheet of the V-ZUG Group showed a strong equity ratio of 72.9% (previous year 70.9%) and cash and cash equivalents incl. securities of CHF 117.3 million (previous year CHF 107.8 million).

Fagor wine cellar

The new Fagor Electrodoméstico wine cellars allow for better product preservation thanks to their technology. Its three models have been designed with the idea of keeping it in perfect condition until the moment it is uncorked.

His idea is to take care of a product as delicate as this one, since the wines can be altered very easily . If the conditions are not optimal, young wines can have an undesired evolution through premature aging.

Meanwhile, in those of long conservation, an excessive detachment of floating sediments could take place. For these reasons it is so important to pay attention to the way we store them and opt for quality products that avoid these inconveniences. Thus, the wine will always be available at its optimum point, so  that the customer can enjoy it .

UV protection technology

From Fagor Electrodoméstico they present different alternatives for this, which have a compact size and a practical format. All of them  fit up to 57 bottles without any problem,  so they allow you to always have stock available in the establishment.
UV protection technology allows wines to be kept in perfect condition all the time. For this reason , avoid exposure to direct sunlight , since this modifies its smell, color and flavor. Thus, its preservation and good maintenance is guaranteed.

They have dark glass doors to protect the wine from light with a sophisticated and elegant design. It also has natural wood shelves that serve as insulation against vibrations. In this way , storage conditions almost identical to those of a traditional cellar are created : dark, cool and perfect.

Through the electronic control with display, the bottles can be stored at different temperatures . In other words, beyond preserving them without deteriorating, they serve to improve their quality as they mature. Thanks to this detail, you can enjoy the characteristic flavor and aroma of each of the varieties.

Fagor Electrodoméstico prioritizes humidity control

The humidification system of these wine cellars maintains the relative humidity between 70% and 80% to better preserve the qualities of the wine. For this, it also has fans, which help regulate humidity and keep it at the optimum level.

With this combination oxidation and evaporation of the broth are prevented , at the same time as bacterial infestation and bad odours. In addition, the labels remain as the first day , with little risk of peeling off or being damaged.

Miele and KptnCook

Miele and KptnCook (Berlin startup in which Miele has a majority stake) are working on new concepts to ensure the continued growth of the KptnCook recipe app. For some time now, the app has also been available in Spanish, alongside German and English. “Never before was the fast and varied preparation of good food as simple as it is today – Miele says –: a fresh meal is ready for serving within only half an hour, thanks to the prize-winning app. Every day, the app suggests three creative recipes which are balanced, nutritious and easy to follow. Cooking instructions with step-by-step photographs accompany the process. The support provided by the digital app ranges from individual recipe inspirations to shopping at the supermarket through to finished meals”. More recently, the premium version of the app has offered a weekly meal planner. This allows complete meals and associated purchases to be planned ahead for an entire week. Various options are selectable for the preferred recipe: ingredients which don’t agree with the user or the consumer simply doesn’t like can be deleted from the list. The app provides users exclusively with recipes which match their eating habits. Besides, KptnCook and Miele are working together on new topics. One example is the development of KptnCook recipes specifically for Miele induction hobs with the TempControl feature and CookAssist which take users by the hand and accompanies them through the entire cooking process with explanatory photographs on a smartphone or tablet. On the hob, Miele’s intelligent TempControl sensor guarantees the right temperature at all times by recognising the temperature of cookware and holding it automatically constant. 2022 will see the launch of further joint activities within the app in order to exploit synergies and to further consolidate collaboration between Miele and KptnCook.

Novy’s Panorama collection of vented downdraft extractor hobs

The Panorama PRO 120 is the latest addition to Novy’s Panorama collection of vented downdraft extractor hobs.

The hob features five uninterrupted cooking zones in a side-by-side configuration that can also be bridged to become a fully zoneless cooking area.

Designed for those seeking a flexible and technologically advanced surface cooking centre, the Novy hob also has a special grill function for use with a grill pan accessory together with a wide range of advanced cooking functions including automatic pan detection, automatic cooking, keep warm, chef function, Stop&Go pause function and timers for each zone.

Integrated within the hob’s surface is the 110cm semi-transparent ventilation tower that rises by up to 30cm to extract cooking vapours at source – directly behind the pans.

With a maximum free flow rate of 1,530m³/h, the powerful extractor has five speeds plus three intensive speeds together with a pre-set extraction function to automatically adjust the power level.

When cooking has ended, the tower retracts back into the hob’s surface to be completely concealed from view. In addition to touch controls on the hob’s surface, the extractor can also be controlled and adjusted using the Novy Connect app, which also monitors air quality in the room

Haier brings AI to the kitchen – with Series 6

Haier explains that Series 6 incapsulates premium technology that comes together in a range of ovens, hobs, hoods, refrigerators, and dishwashers that use connectivity, the hOn App and AI to offer tailor-made solutions for the modern home, thanks also to their elegant and minimalist design.

The Chef@Home oven, which, thanks to a presence sensor, turns on automatically, giving the user access to the 19-inch full touch control screen. The innovative “Cook with me” technology is designed to bring Artificial Intelligence into everyday life. Furthermore, the PreciTaste technology recognises the types of food placed inside the oven, so it automatically sets the cooking parameters, sending the user a notification when the food is ready

Haier’s cooking range embodies the brand’s continuous efforts to offer premium products and high-tech solutions, clearly also visible in the induction hob range: thanks to the innovative PreciProbe Bluetooth temperature probe, which is also included in the Chef@Home oven. The induction hob maintains the temperature of the food, automatically choosing the correct power at every stage of cooking notifying the user when it is ready.

Exclusive features of the Series 6 hob range also include Multi-zone technology, which – thanks to an advanced temperature detection system and optimised power management – can detect and manage the presence of different sized pots in the same area, ensuring maximum flexibility.

Meanwhile, VaryCook technology allows users to increase and decrease the temperature of their hob with ease without touching the controls, simply by sliding pots and pans up and down, thanks to three power levels (high, medium and low), giving the possibility to cook food at varying temperatures during the cooking phases.

The range is completed by gas hobs, in which Haier offers models with the most powerful set of burners on the market, (5 Kw of power), and with the use of the innovative and exclusive PreciFlame technology, which makes it possible to adjust the intensity of the flame to perfection by offering nine different power levels.
