Gree Electric has developed its own chips,

Chinese home appliance manufacturer Gree Electric has developed its own chips, Chinese local media reported on Monday citing its chairwoman, six years after the firm embarked on efforts to do so.

Dong Mingzhu, told news portal Sina.com that the company had achieved capabilities in chip research, design, and manufacturing, all without funding support from the Chinese government. She did not detail what kind of chips Gree was now able to make.

In 2018, Gree set up a subsidiary to design chips for air conditioners and the company announced that it wanted to move into making more smart home products. At the time, Dong said that Gree spent 4 billion yuan ($549.45 million) a year on buying chips for its air conditioners.

Bosch, future of connected homes looks like

To mark the 10th anniversary of Home Connect, BSH presents new functions and appliances at IFA Berlin 2024 that promote sustainability and comfortable use.  The Smart Start function automates the operation of home appliances based on the highest proportion of renewable energy in the power grid. For consumers who use dynamic electricity tariffs, Smart Start can also determine the program start of appliances based on current electricity prices.  The Care Dashboard allows you to monitor the status of your appliances, identify maintenance requirements at an early stage and fix problems directly in the Home Connect app.  The XXL built-in fridge-freezers from #Bosch and #Siemens are the world’s first Matter-enabled home appliances to set new standards in cross-brand #connectivity at home. With its integration into the Matter standard, BSH is actively positioning itself for the smart home of the future.

Konka expanding

Shaanxi Konka Intelligent Home Appliances Co., a distinguished branch of the Konka Group and its sole smart kitchen appliance manufacturing hub in Northwest China, has successfully secured international orders surpassing 10,000 units for dishwashers this year. The primary markets for these exports are key European nations such as Germany, France, and Italy.

In a strategic move to broaden its market reach, the company is now venturing into the Central Asian region. It has already made inroads by exporting washing machines to Kazakhstan and is currently gearing up to dispatch its inaugural consignment of dishwashers to the Central Asian market.

Samsung, LG and Arçelik announce the interoperability of their smart homes

Samsung , LG , Arçelik and Vestel have announced interoperability between the smart home connections of their products. This removes one of the main obstacles to the development of the smart home. Until now, in fact, it was necessary to download the application of each brand to control smart devices: Samsung SmartThings, LG ThinQ, Vestel VeeZy or Arçelik HomeWhiz.

However, the philosophy of ‘corporate ecosystems’ has not made its breakthrough while the philosophy of complete interoperability has made its way. Thus, the Home Connectivity Alliance was born in 2021, which includes Samsung, LG, Vestel and Arçelik.

Users will be able to choose which application they wish to use and will be able to control LG or Arçelik devices with it (for example with the Samsung app).

The 1.0 interface specification, launched by HCA, enables cloud-to-cloud communication and will be available in some countries as early as late 2023 and then expand over time. Initially, interconnections will only be possible between pairs of brands, for example Samsung with LG. Full interoperability will occur over time.the first phase, washing machines, dishwashers, refrigerators, air conditioners, stoves, air purifiers and some small appliances will be supported. In the next phase, more devices will be supported. According to the HCA statement, not only newly produced devices will benefit from this opportunity, but also owners of older devices.

Since cloud-to-cloud communication technology will be used, users will not need to upgrade their home appliances or purchase hub devices. Simply update your smart device control software (downloaded to your mobile device

HCA also includes GE Appliances, Haier, Electrolux, and Trane.
