It was a good start to the year for Chinese brand Haier Smart Home which has seen strong revenue growth against current industry trends
Haier’s revenue hit RMB 243.514 billion (€32bn) in 2022 versus RMB 227.106 billion (€30.28bn) the previous year. Its net profit attributable to the owners of the parent company amounted to RMB 14.711 billion (€1.9m). Growth in profit exceeded that of revenue, Haier said.
It comes after the brand re-entered the Fortune list of World’s Most Admired companies back in February, and the appliances arm being named Euromonitor No. 1 Global Appliance Brand for the 14th year running.
Drivers for Haier’s success have been attributed to successful brand building strategies and the effective digital transformation of domestic and overseas businesses. It means the consumer electronics giant has been able to report strong growth against the sluggish trend of the home appliance industry.
Meanwhile, Haier Smart Home‘s overseas business grew by 10.3% in the reporting year despite challenges such as high inflation and slowing global consumer demand in 2022.
Haier Smart Home said it accelerated the localisation of its supply chain setup in overseas markets, and fully leveraged its global collaborative advantages to effectively respond to these challenges. The company’s overseas business increased by 10.3% year-on-year in 2022. In the American market, the company’s revenue increased by 9.0% (revenue in local currency increased by 4.6%), under the background that the industry’s major home appliance shipment growth was -6%. In the European market, the company recorded revenue growth of 16.7% while the industry’s sale volume growth was -8.9%.
At home, in the domestic market, Haier reported “continuous growth”, particularly with its premium Casarte brand, which continues to rank No.1 in China.
Finally, Three-Winged Bird, Haier Smart Home’s smart home eco-system brand, has also been a driving force for growth, the company said. “It continuously iterated the so-called “1+3+5+N” smart home solutions, enhancing user value based on its 5 core capabilities including Smart Home Brain capability, scenario solution capability, store operation capability, 1+N delivery capability, and digital tools capability.
During 2022, more than 900 stores of Three-Winged Bird were opened, and the retail sales of the Three-Winged Bird stores increased by 257% year-on-year.
With the continuous deepening of digital transformation, Haier Smart Home’s profitability continued to improve by increasing its resource efficiency and hence, creating room for new expansion in a more sustainable way

Green product award to the Miele dishwasher
Tenth edition for the Green Product Award . In the kitchen category, the award went to the fully integrated Miele model G 7465 SCVi XXL AutoDos. The international jury appreciated “In particular, the transparency of energy and water consumption through the app involves the consumer who seeks greater sustainability and makes him responsible”. This is the new consumption panel in the Miele app, which displays how often a program is used weekly, monthly or annually and how much water and electricity it actually uses. The app also compares the average values of the programs and provides ecological advice.
The awards are organized by the Green Future Club, a network of sustainable innovators and experts with a vision for a near future where all products are sustainable. The club organizes awards, exhibitions and networking events, supports young designers and publishes the annual Green Trend Book with international best practices. Nils Bader , promoter of the award, emphasizes: “ With the awards, we present existing, future and, of course, sustainable alternatives and network the players. With the exhibition and the talks we want to surprise and show what is already possible. No one should do things randomly, but plan, design and ultimately consume with a different perspective in the future .”Innovative water feed for washing with less water
In the ECO programme, water consumption is reduced to 8.9 litres. This also means that less energy is required to heat the water, and you benefit from an energy-efficient dishwasher. The water savings are achieved through the intelligent design of the supply system and a new, highly efficient filter system. Additional insulation reduces thermal losses and thus the amount of energy required to heat the water.

Whirlpool brand received the “Eletto Prodotto dell’anno 2023” award, the Italian recognition by Prodotto dell’Anno which selects the best products on the market based on innovation and consumer satisfaction.

Vorwerk’s Kobold VK7 mop-vacuum awarded “Product of the Year 2023”
German household appliance manufacturer Vorwerk : its Kobold VK7 multifunction vacuum cleaner -scrubber has received the “Voted Product of the Year” label, which can be affixed to the product box.
Kobold VK7 was reviewed by more than 15,000 consumers , against several competitors, via the research company NielsenIQ. Several criteria were then taken into account, including its attractiveness , the consumer’s intention to buy and his perception of the product as an innovation . Products with an above-average rating moved on to a real-life test: the Kobold VK7 was tried and judged by 120 families , who were satisfied.
For just under €1450, the VK7 prides itself on being cordless , light (about 2kg) and efficient : it can wash 60m² in 10 minutes thanks to its 2 suction outlets accompanied by a microfiber cloth. The device is also suitable for people with allergies, thanks to its filter bag capturing 99.99% of dust and allergens, according to the German inspection company TÜV Nord. Vorwerk ensures that the VK7 is suitable for all hard floors and offers a 5-year warranty on the device.
This is not the first time that the company has seen one of its products voted “Product of the Year”. Its renowned Thermomix TM6 had already received this label in 2020. The following year, it was the previous iteration of the Kobold vacuum cleaner that had been awarded.
