Mediaworld announces that it achieved a turnover of 2.7 billion euros (+2.4% compared to the previous year), one of the highest in the thirty-year history of the company and the best of the last ten years . Ebit stood at 26.6 million euros, up by 3.2 million (+13.7%) compared to the 2019 fiscal year (last pre-pandemic). The brand’s 2022 financial year is part of a macroeconomic framework strongly conditioned by various economic factors that have had an impact on the business: from the intensity of the war in Ukraine to the increase in the inflation rate (+8.9% on annual basis in September 2022) following the increase in the cost of energy. Furthermore, the consumer electronics market also recorded a slight contraction (-1.9% in September 2022).
Among the key factors that affected the positive performance of sales, an official note reads, the implementation of a substantial investment plan aimed at upgrading the technological infrastructures and strengthening the stores, with new openings, contributed significantly and renovations of the shops already present in the area. In particular, in 2022 MediaWorld allocated 40.2 million euros to investments, 140% more than the previous year; of these 28.5 million euros were invested for the complete renovation of 22 points of sale, the opening of 3 new stores and the second Tech Village in Rome. Approximately €11.7 million has been earmarked for IT infrastructure improvements including the implementation of the new website launched in July 2022,

Miele green aluminium
Miele introduces green aluminium to production: After having started to deploy green steel, we are now the first company in our industry to use primary aluminium, produced exclusively using green electricity from hydropower.
As part of a pilot project, we will use profile strips in the manufacture of ovens, which as of this year will be made from around 150 tons of CO2-reduced aluminum and are 100 percent recyclable. This way, we reduce our CO2 footprint by 645 tonnes a year. In doing so, we make yet another contribution to greater sustainability in the supply chain.
“The objective is to use climate-friendly aluminium on a broad front and thereby contribute towards a future-proof economy”, says Senior Vice President Hans Krug who is in charge of Purchasing at the Miele Group. Hisense Europe is officially opening an innovation center in Velenje
Hisense Europe, the European part of the Chinese technology group Hisense, which also includes Gorenje, is officially opening an innovation center next week in Velenje. The grand opening of the center for research and development in the field of household appliances for the whole of Europe and for kitchen and premium appliances for the global market will take place on Monday. In the invitation to the event, Hisense Europe, which is based in Velenje, wrote that the development of technology and devices within the group will take place in Velenje, regardless of where the production of individual devices will take place and which market they will be intended for.
With the opening of the center, for which they have been preparing for a long time, “Hisense further strengthens the importance of Slovenia as its central European production and development location, which also brings new investments and jobs”, the corporation pointed out.
Hisense Europe has business units in 27 European countries, as well as three production and four research and development centers. In the group, the field of research and development was identified as one of the most important pillars of the company’s development. This is also why they have invested a lot of money for this purpose in recent years – last year there was talk of 50 million euros – and the group has also strengthened the recruitment of technological staff.
In addition to Velenj, the group has so far carried out research and development activities in Slovenia in Ljubljana and Maribor.
