BSH presents the first Matter-compatible home appliance
BSH will be the first manufacturer in the world to bring a Matter-compatible home appliance to the market in early 2025. At the gigantic BSH stand at IFA 2024 a built-in XXL fridge-freezer combination was presented, which will be distributed under both the Bosch and Siemens brands.
The new Matter connection standard will enable simple and fast networking in the future not only between the group’s appliances but with all models that have been or will be put on the market by manufacturers adhering to this standard (almost all leaders) with great advantages for everyday use. Matter-compatible devices can be controlled via various apps and technologies, actively or automatically and self-controlled in the background. BSH is therefore actively positioning itself for the smart home of the future.Home Connect has been a leader in IoT solutions for the kitchen and home for a decade. At IFA, BSH is celebrating this anniversary with new functions that promote sustainability and ease of use. Europe’s leading home appliance manufacturer, BSH Hausgeräte GmbH, is expanding its global production network and will be manufacturing in Mexico into the future. In Monterrey, in the state of Nuevo Leon, large double-door, so-called French Door Bottom Mount refrigerators are now coming off the production line. The appliances produced under the Bosch and Thermador brands are specially tailored to the needs of consumers in the North American market.

German engineering group Robert Bosch is weighing a bid for US appliances manufacturer Whirlpool, (WHR) according to three people familiar with the matter, a move that would boost its position in the household appliances market.

Alternative resources: the H2 hob by Bosch
Bosch is forging ahead on the path to environmental sustainability and is actively participating in the “H100 Fife” initiative, a green hydrogen endeavor unfolding in Scotland under the leadership of SGN, the gas distribution network. Specifically, approximately 300 households along the eastern Scottish coastline, particularly in the communities of Buckhaven and Denbeath, will transition to using green hydrogen for their heating and culinary needs. This eco-friendly energy is sourced from the sea’s winds and harnessed through electrolysis. Bosch is set to contribute by supplying hydrogen-powered cooking appliances. A key advantage of this green hydrogen is its clean combustion process, which emits neither carbon monoxide nor CO2. Bosch unveiled this innovative technology at the Eurocucina 2024 event in Milan. The company articulates that this pilot project is a testament to their dedication to eco-friendly alternatives that minimize environmental impact, aiming to inspire more such initiatives and steer us towards a net-zero future.

Bosch series 8 heat pump dryer
Bosch have launched its new Series 8 heat pump dryers, which reach the class A+++ -10% ensuring a high level of energy efficiency. The heat pump technology significantly reduces the environmental impact thanks also to the use of R290 propane gas. The self-cleaning condenser uses the condensation water produced during the drying in order to remove the lint that settles on it in each cycle and which, over time, tends to reduce the efficiency: this process is carried out for up to 4 times for each drying cycle, keeping the condenser constantly clean. The new models are equipped with advanced functions such as Iron Assist (a steam treatment that softens the garments, reduces the creases and refreshes clothes by removing the odors), Hygiene Plus (against germs, bacteria, mites and common allergens) and the option for reduced loads. Furthermore, with the Sheets program an alternating bidirectional rotation is carried out to avoid the tangling of the items: in this way large and small items can be dried together. The dryers can be connected to the Home Connect app which offers additional programs and constant software updates. Besides, with Smart Dry – thanks to the wireless technology and the Home Connect app – the washing machine sends the information of the last wash cycle to the dryer, such as the load quantity and the residual humidity: the dryer then automatically selects the most suitable drying program for the washed laundry
