Franke new built-in ovens

Franke‘s Mythos range of ovens also includes two Full Steam products. The models FMY 99 HS XS and FMY 99 HS BK are created for those who love to cook in a healthy way. Thanks to the steam cooking it is possible to cook preserving the nutritional qualities of the food. The user only has to put the water into the tank and select the appropriate function: the electronic sensors will check the cooking times and the correct amount of steam. It is also possible to choose the combined cooking (which use both steam and heat at temperatures between 140° and 220°C) or the PureSteam cooking at 95°C. The new Full Steam models, like the other ovens in the collection, feature a 3.5” full touch color TFT display and the CookAssist technology. Besides, the Smooth2close system ensures that the opening and closing of the oven are silent and delicate. The Multicooking function offers the possibility of cooking up to four dishes at the same time and the CookAssist, with many preset recipes, allows user to easily create any dish, selecting only the type of dish and letting the oven set automatically the optimal program and cooking time. Finally, using the steam power, the Full Steam ovens clean themselves in 35 minutes – at 90° – without the use of chemical detergents but simply by inserting 200 cc of water into the oven.

Ufesa shows how its purifiers eliminate the SARS-CoV-2 virus by 99.97%

Ufesa shows how its purifiers eliminate the SARS-CoV-2 virus by 99.97%

Ufesa’s range of purifiers is capable of trapping and destroying viruses and bacteria with an efficiency of more than 99.97%, including Sars-CoV-2. This has been confirmed by Carolina de la Torre, scientist at the Josep Carreras Leukemia Institute and head of scientific platforms, and Iñaki Castresana, Ufesa communication director, during the presentation of these devices, held last week, in which its performance and innovative technology have been put to the test. The Josep Carreras Leukemia Institute, a public research center, has been responsible for the experimental design for the execution of the microbiological tests of the purifiers.

The differential value of Ufesa air purifiers is found in the innovative and unique antimicrobial coating of the Hepa filters. This coating features an organosilane quaternary ammonium compound with antibacterial, antifungal and antiviral activity. Its particularity lies in the fact that it is an organic, non-toxic and environmentally friendly compound capable of destroying the membrane of bacteria and viruses.

Carolina de la Torre explained how the filters of these devices destroy the SARS-CoV-2 virus, which causes the Covid-19 disease: “the structure of the integral filter system is divided into three parts. The coating of the Hepa filter proceeds mechanically, killing the microorganisms that are trapped in it, since it acts like a blade, being able to pierce the virus membrane ”.

Filtering more reliable and safe for people

Thanks to the effectiveness of the coating, the filters in Ufesa purifiers have also improved. The firm has developed an improved filter that not only traps pathogenic microorganisms, but also actively eliminates them and is also less aggressive to the human body than other existing solutions.

This range of Ufesa air purifiers consists of the PF5500 Fresh Air models, covering surfaces up to 60 m²; PF3500, for surfaces up to 40 m; and PF6500 Clean Air Connect, for spaces up to 115 m².

+12% for German electrical and electronic exports in the first seven months 2021

Zvei, the German electrical and electronic manufacturers’ association, reported the export data of the industry during July 2021 and during the first seven months of the year. According to the Association, the exports of the German electric industry grew by 6.8% (year on year) to 18 billion euro in July 2021. «The recent increase – Zvei comments – was smaller than in the four preceding months, in which the deliveries abroad still had advanced with double-digit rates –of course, not least because of base effects».

In the full first seven months of this year the sector’s exports reach the value of 126.7 billion euro, recording a growth of 12% compared to the year earlier. Imports of electrical and electronic goods, instead, surpassed their corresponding pre-year level by 9.8% in July, totalizing 16.6 billion euro. Here the pace of expansion slowed down, too. Accumulated from January through July 2021 the incoming deliveries reached 121 billion euro. With it, they were up 16.5% on their pre-year level.
Electric exports to the industrialized countries reached 11.5billion in July 2021 (+8.1% year over year). The highest increases were reported for the deliveries to Taiwan (+18.3%), South Korea (+17.8%), the Czech Republic (+14.7%), Italy (+13.5%), the Netherlands (+13.2%) and Sweden (+12.9%). Regarding deliveries to the emerging markets, Zvei reported a merely climbed by 4.5% (year-on-year) in July 2021. With an increase of 53.3% the biggest plus was recorded for exports to South Africa, while deliveries to Brazil (+43.3%) and India (+39.7%) were starkly on the rise, too.

Arçelik, the holding company for Beko, officially opened the new Beko Innovation Centre at Marlborough College, the UK’s largest co-educational independent full boarding school located in Wiltshire.

This £5m ambitious new building, supported by a generous donation by Beko Plc and several other donors, will not only provide state-of-the-art teaching and learning facilities but will become a hub for local, national and global collaborations in the spheres of social enterprise, engineering, technology and education.

Marlborough College and Beko have a shared vision to educate the scientists and innovators of the future who will go on to make a difference and find novel solutions for some of the world’s most pressing problems. It is hoped that the building will inspire scientific instincts and galvanise research and development.

Marlborough and Beko also share a passion for sustainability and the building benefits from clever environmental design, employing a thermally efficient envelope, photovoltaic panels, natural ventilation, excellent daylighting and reduced water consumption. The generous floor to ceiling heights will provide opportunities for the construction of large-scale prototypes, promoting new and exciting ways of exploring ideas, unconstrained by standard classroom sizes.

They enjoyed a morning of speeches and demonstrations which showcased the College’s vision for the future of Science, Technology and Innovation both within our curriculum and in outreach programmes and external collaborations. Pupils from the Lower Sixth explained how they have been training with the Young Guru Academy to use their award-winning Twin Science and Robotics kits with our local primary school partners in classroom sessions which will commence this month.

The College’s partnership with Beko will leverage the advanced capability of Beko’s Research and Development facility in Cambridge and will extend and grow both parties’ existing academic outreach and partnership programmes. It is also hoped that collaborations with business and HE can be facilitated in the future through the Cambridge Network.

Microplastics

The UK’s All-Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) on Microplastics has published its first report, calling for new rules which would require washing machine manufacturers to fit microfibre filters by 2025.

Such mechanisms, which are to be required by law in France by 2023, have proven up to 90 per cent effective in stemming the flow of textile microfibre emissions.

Alberto Costa, the Conservative MP which assembled the APPG, told The Guardian: “This is a sensible, reasonable and cost-effective measure. The key to this [push from the new group] was getting manufacturers on board, and they agree this can be done with little expense to consumers.”

Bosch GlassProtect

Bosch presents GlassProtect, the induction cooktop with a special coating developed by their partner Schott that’s especially resistant to unsightly scratches caused by sand or sponges. Abrasive sponges often used to remove dried-on food from the cooktop can also behind scratches, as well as fine grains of sand can do. In addition, all types of metal objects pose a threat to the flawless surface of every glass-ceramic cooktop.

Not even GlassProtect can prevent all scratches, but it can prevent most of them. The special coating developed by the glass manufacturer Schott is approximately 95 percent more resistant to scratches caused by sand and about 70 percent more resistant to scratches caused by abrasive sponges than conventional glass-ceramic cooktops with no special coating.

The appliance with the GlassProtect surface is being presented as part of the Bosch carbon black product family in two versions: one model with the timeless ComfortProfile and one flush-mounted model for installation into the countertop. Both models are 80 centimetres wide and have a multi-purpose FlexInduction zone and three standard cooking zones.

DirectSelect Premium operation epitomizes modern operating standards. And with the Home Connect app, the extractor hood can be conveniently controlled via the cooktop, so there’s no more going back and forth while cooking. Moreover, the PerfectFry frying sensor ensures healthy frying thanks to its reliable temperature control that preserves vitamins and is gentle on cookware.
