The washing machine market is facing slower growth, making product upgrades increasingly important. As consumers look for better care, faster drying and smarter home appliances, heat-pump technology and smart connectivity are becoming key trends.

On September 24, 2026, Skyworth and HarmonyOS Smart Selection introduced their first jointly developed product: the HarmonyOS Smart Selection Skyworth Heat Pump Washer-Dryer Combo.

The new machine focuses on several common problems with washing and drying, including fabric damage, lint buildup, unpleasant odors and limited smart-home integration.

Its heat-pump drying system uses lower temperatures to protect delicate fabrics such as wool and silk. A redesigned lint-removal system automatically cleans the machine during operation, reducing the need for manual filter cleaning. A fresh-air system also helps ventilate the drum and reduce odors.

The washer-dryer is designed to fit standard 850mm cabinets and can wash and dry 1kg of clothes in about 59 minutes. According to Skyworth, it also meets the new national Level 1 energy-efficiency standard, with lower water and electricity consumption.

Smart features are another major focus. Through HarmonyOS and Huawei’s smart-home ecosystem, users can control the machine remotely and connect it with devices such as smart door locks and clothes racks.

The product is expected to launch in December 2026 through Huawei Mall, Huawei’s JD.com flagship store and Huawei offline stores.

The partnership shows how washing machines are moving beyond basic washing and drying toward clothing care, energy efficiency and connected smart-home experiences.
