Electrolux Group: all the 5 Italian sites are “Zero Waste to Landfill” certified
Electrolux Group, Italy is the first country in Europe to have all production sites certified “Zero Waste to Landfill” by Intertek, an independent external certification body. “Thanks to innovative projects, the scouting of new partners and technologies, the definition of procedures, the collaboration with suppliers and above all the commitment of the people who work at our sites – explains Massimiliano Ranieri, CEO of Electrolux Italia – we succeeded in 2022 to recycle and recover 99.7% of the waste produced, for a total of over 19,800 tonnes. Net of the approximately 2% that was converted into energy, this result led to an annual saving of over 56,000 tonnes of CO2 equivalent. This is an extraordinary result, which confirms how sustainability is at the center of Electrolux’s strategy from multiple points of view. Certainly from a product point of view, given that our appliances enable significant energy savings for consumers, but also from a production point of view, as demonstrated by the targets achieved thanks to the Zero Waste to Landfill programme”. The certification provides that less than 1% of the waste produced in each plant can be sent to landfill or incinerated without energy recovery. Electrolux Group has further raised the bar, going beyond the certifier’s requirements and compliance with the Italian and European law on waste management, disposal and transport. In fact, it has established that its production sites limit below 3% the waste that can be converted into energy. A desire that has a precise objective: to favor recycling and reuse projects.
Ametek acquires United Electronic Industries
Ametek announced the acquisition of United Electronic Industries (UEI), specialized in the design and manufacture of high-performance test, measurement, simulation and control solutions. “We are excited to welcome United Electronic Industries to the Ametek family – said David A. Zapico, Ametek Chairman and Chief Executive Officer –. UEI is an excellent strategic fit with our Power Systems and Instruments Division. Their innovative solutions nicely complement our existing testing and data acquisition expertise helping broaden our presence serving attractive market segments and applications”. UEI is headquartered in Norwood (Massachusetts) and has annual sales of approximately $35 million. It will join Ametek as part of its Electronic Instruments Group (EIG)
Arçelik-Whirlpool, the EU will decide by October 23rd
The agreement which provides for the sale of the Whirlpool and Beko activities in Europe to a new company largely owned by Arçelik was officially included in the protocol of the Competition DG on 18 September with number M11086. The European Antitrust will make its decision by October 23rd.Commission offices could ask for a supplementary investigation, as was done for example by the English Antitrust.

Miele induction hobs received two important design awards: the iF Design Award and the RedDot Design Award. Two hobs with an integrated extractor (TwoInOne) and a full-surface induction hob were each double winners.both powerful and quiet in operation. Their reduced design is characterised by the central air intake with a grille set in the ceramic glass screen. This feature, in particular, convinced the jury of the Red Dot Award and allows pots and pans to slide freely. The grille on the rectangular air intake blends in seamlessly with the design of the hob. Depending on the model, the grille is either completely black (KMDA 7272 Silence) or has discreet brushed stainless-steel slats (KMDA 7473 Silence).
A further recipient of the iF and the Red Dot design prize was the KM 7897-1 FL Diamond full-surface induction hob. Haier Smart Home has published its financial report for H1 2023, recording a continued revenue and profit growth.
Despite the challenging market conditions, Haier Smart Home was able to maintain its revenue and profit growth pace by improving its operational efficiency and enhancing digital transformation.
In the European market, we have achieved strong performance in sales revenue, reporting an increase of 29.6% year-on-year.
The positive figures reported in the half-year report 2023 confirm Haier´s strong business resilience and growth potential. Moreover, Haier was listed once again in the #Fortune Global 500, the annual list of the world’s largest companies, for the sixth year in a row.
