140th Canton Fair Opens: New Momentum for Global White Goods Trade

The 140th China Import and Export Fair (Canton Fair) officially opened in Guangzhou today, once again positioning itself as the key meeting point between global demand and Chinese manufacturing innovation — including a strong showing from the white goods and home appliance sector.

Today the world’s attention returns to the Pearl River as the 140th Canton Fair gets underway. For 70 years the event has served as the “barometer” and “weather vane” of China’s foreign trade, and this edition arrives with record levels of new and green products.

Key highlights from the opening:

– New products account for 23.2% of exhibits — a new high.
– Green products make up 26% of the show — also a record.
– More than 700 product launch events are planned, with product debuts up 15% year-on-year.
– A dedicated New Collection Gallery makes its first appearance.

Overseas buyers are arriving with clear priorities: quality products, new market opportunities, and long-term partnerships. For the white goods industry this remains one of the most important sourcing platforms of the year. Chinese manufacturers continue to push innovation in energy efficiency, smart connectivity, and sustainable design — areas that directly shape the refrigerators, washing machines, dishwashers, ovens and other large appliances that will reach global markets in the coming seasons.

The Canton Fair’s uninterrupted 70-year history underscores the enduring value of face-to-face meetings, trust-building and open exchange, even in a rapidly changing trade environment.

The fair is now open. Pre-registration for overseas buyers remains available via the official Canton Fair website and app.
