Top features for kitchen appliances revealed in new study

Functionality, quality and energy efficiency were the most valued features in kitchen appliances according to a survey of 14,000 consumers sponsored by Beko

The research, carried out by OnePoll in partnership with Turkish appliances manufacturer Beko, surveyed consumers across Europe and the UAE to understand changing attitudes to kitchen design.

Most valued features

According to the survey’s results, what consumers value most in kitchen appliances is functionality and ease of use (35%); quality (34%) and energy efficiency (23%). Moreover, in over half of the six countries surveyed, quality is named as the leading reason for wanting an appliance.

Advanced kitchen technology also emerged as a desired feature, with over half of respondents admitting to coveting someone else’s high-tech kitchen appliances and gadgets such as innovative, energy efficient fridges that kept food fresher for longer.

Another key factor was design, which was consistently cited as one of the top three reasons for feeling envious of others’ kitchen appliances. Specifically, participants stated that they admired sleek and modern appliance designs and a sizeable portion of participants included a “sleek and minimalist design” as a key feature of their dream kitchens.

Beko’s new built-in range

The insights coincide with Beko’s launch of its latest built-in kitchen range combining high-performance with intelligent design and new technologies.

“More and more, we are seeing the kitchen become a common space being used by all members of the family. It is important for us to understand this and tune our offering towards the growing range of wants and needs. This research confirms what we’ve observed; high quality products that look great and are equipped with the innovative technologies sit at the heart of our consumers’ dream kitchens,” said Ragıp Balcıoğlu, Chief Commercial Officer at Arçelik, Beko’s parent company.

Hurom launches H400 easy clean slow juicer

With patented slow squeezing technology and a sleek design, the H400 is the newest addition to Hurom’s revolutionary Easy Clean juicer series.
Hurom, the world’s largest seller of slow juicers with millions of sales globally, has announced the latest in a lineage of innovation: the H400 Easy Clean Slow Juicer.

While traditional juicers require extensive scrubbing, the H400 is equipped with an Easy Clean chamber set which includes a two-part auger and a revolutionary mechanism that minimises pulp – even without a strainer. The strainer-like function is practically embedded within the chamber, and the two-part auger meshes together to strain out pulp-free juice, which means scrub-free, bare minimum cleaning.

Ideal for large families or committed juicers, the H400 Easy Clean Slow Juicer has the largest volume of any self-feeding hopper yet. The maximised hopper and chamber make it easy to load large amounts of produce at one time – resulting in the highest yield and the least amount of pulp across any Easy Clean model.

Director of marketing Brian Crandall comments: “As a global innovator in the industry, Hurom is excited to expand our robust portfolio of quality appliances with the new H400 Easy Clean Slow Juicer. Not only a powerful tool for any kitchen, the H400 continues the brand’s commitment to design excellence – from its streamlined assembly to a gauge window on the front of the body which highlights the rich colours of your juice.”

Crafted from premium materials, the H400’s silent AC motor works efficiently using just 150 watts of power, which is whisper quiet compared to competing centrifugal juicers or blenders.

The Hurom H400 Easy Clean Slow Juicer is available now for US $549.

Xeros Technology has signed a third licensing deal

Xeros Technology Group PLC on Monday said it has signed a third licensing agreement with a global component manufacturer for its XFilter filtration technology.

The Rotherham, England-based laundry technology developer said that under the terms of the 10-year agreement, the partner is licensed to manufacture and sell filters using Xeros’ XFilter technology. Xeros will receive a royalty for each filter device sold.

The company said its XFilter technology gives customers the ability to capture and safely dispose of more than 90% of microfibres, including microplastics, released during laundry cycles. Xeros noted that legislation in France will require all domestic washing machnes to be fitted with microplastic flters from 2025, with similar legislation being developed in the UK, California and the EU.

Xeros said the licensing partner is a northern European supplier of home appliance components, with production facilities in the UK, Asia and Europe.

The firm signed its first licensing agreement with Hanning Elektro-Werke in June last year and signed its second agreement earlier in March.

Chief Executive Officer Neil Austin said: “The fact that three of Europe’s leading component suppliers have chosen to partner with Xeros clearly demonstrates that Xeros’ XFilter technology is widely regarded and believed in by multiple manufacturers.”
