A simple QR code scan will guide owners to link their Kroger account the first time they use the feature. This feature is another meaningful step in GE Appliances’ journey to make cooking at home easy and enjoyable. Earlier this year, the company introduced Flavorly™ AI powered by Google Cloud’s generative AI platform, Vertex AI. The feature is available via GE Appliances’ SmartHQ consumer app and offers consumers the ability to generate custom recipes based on the ingredients available in their kitchen. Consumers can simply select a recipe category and type of cuisine, then input available ingredients, and include any dietary preferences. They will receive tailored recipes with ingredients, instructions, and even photos.
All new Electrolux and AEG washing machines ranges in Europe from Series 7 and above are equipped with a steam program. In APAC & MEA, select washing machine ranges are now equipped with steam programs to sanitize or refresh clothes, and machines in North America and Latin America are equipped with steam programs to remove dirt and tough stains from fibers.
As Electrolux explains, functions such as SteamCare and ProSteam use over 96% less water and 30% less energy compared to a complete washing cycle. The gentle SteamCare program – said Calina Gavril, Care Experience Marketing Director for Electrolux Group – enables consumers to quickly refresh one or two garments at a time, such as a blouse or shirt. In 25 minutes, gentle steam removes creases, odors and restores that newly washed feeling to even delicate garments.
Our consumer research – adds Isabell Foyer, European Category Manager, Washing Machines – consistently shows that steam is one of the most appreciated functions, and that it continues to have high consumer appeal. Changing laundry behavior takes time, but we are seeing more consumers changing their laundry behavior to reduce their environmental impact and costs, particularly in light of higher energy prices.

At the beginning of 2024, the BSH group, producer of well-known household brands such as Bosch, Siemens, Gaggenau and Neff, will switch to using Matter technology, the latest technology in smart home connectivity. The refrigerators are the first to go, specifically the spacious XXL built-in fridge-freezer combinations. In Matter 1.2, a large number of household appliances have been added, including refrigerators, dishwashers and washing machines.
The BSH group, which includes heavyweights such as Bosch and Siemens, is at the forefront of this innovation as some of their appliances are already connected via the cloud and can be controlled remotely with Home Connect.
Matter 1.2 promises a seamless connection between various home appliances, and BSH plans to adopt this standard in their refrigerators that will allow users to control the temperature remotely. While details on which current models will support Matter have not yet been announced, it is likely that only more recent devices will be compatible.
Furthermore, in 2024, the Bosch Smart Home controller will function as a Matter bridge, which will play a crucial role in the new ecosystem of connected devices. This will herald a gradual transition to a fully Matter-compatible smart home system, although it is still unclear when other appliances such as washing machines and dishwashers will follow.
Matter does not yet support everything; for example, there is no support for cameras yet. Nevertheless, this update marks an important step forward in the world of smart kitchen appliance
