Electrolux Professional wash and dry reusables
Electrolux Professional has recently offered a sneak peek at an innovative prototype machine designed to enhance the washing and drying capabilities for reusable items.
During its All Taste, Less Waste event, which focuses on sustainable practices within the hospitality sector, the company revealed that while the new device is currently under development, it promises to elevate operational efficiency.
In the UK, the trend towards reusable packaging is gaining momentum, aligning with similar movements across other European nations.
Electrolux Professional is introducing the Electrolux Professional Returnable Station (ERS), a state-of-the-art, fully-automated dishwasher and dryer station for reusable items. The ERS distinguishes itself by tracking the items with a QR code system, facilitating a direct interaction between the machine and its users. This pioneering technology is being developed in partnership with various stakeholders, including prominent UK coffee chains.
Currently, Electrolux Professional is conducting pilot programs throughout Europe, notably in the UK. The inaugural pilot will witness coffee chains in a Northern English city transition from single-use items to reusables.

There is a new player on the market for cleaning, disinfection and sterilization solutions for hospitals and the pharmaceutical industry: SteelcoBelimed. The joint venture, which has emerged from the Miele group company Steelco and the Metall Zug companies Belimed Infection Control and Belimed Life Science, is now starting operations under the brand SteelcoBelimed.
This follows the approval of the joint venture by the responsible authorities. Miele holds 67 % and Metall Zug 33 % of SteelcoBelimed via a holding company based in Zug, Switzerland. The declared aim of the Gütersloh-based family company is to significantly expand the business for commercial products and applications. “The Professional business of Miele is increasing its turnover share both organically and inorganically, from less than 15% a few years ago to more than 20% including the joint venture. It has become an indispensable pillar for our group in addition to our business with household appliances, given the growth opportunities, the innovation and technology focus and its different economic cycles”, explains Dr Axel Kniehl, Executive Director of Marketing & Sales at Miele and responsible board member of the Professional Business Unit.

Hoshizaki America grabs 25% stake in rival refrigeration manufacturer
Hoshizaki the Japanese firm has paid $28m for an initial 25% stake in Fogel Company following a deal conducted through its US subsidiary.
It intends to increase its investment over the next three years until it has gained a 51% shareholding in the business, mirroring the approach it took when purchasing European manufacturer Ozti previously.
Panama-headquartered Fogel has been trading for more than 55 years and is one of the largest fridge makers in the Americas region.
Its 27,000 square meter factory in Guatemala has the capacity to build up to 216,000 units a year and employs more than 1,600 staff.

Electrolux Professional to buy Japan’s Tosei
Electrolux Professional on Friday said it had agreed to buy Japan’s Tosei Corporation (8923.T), a maker of professional laundry equipment and vacuum packing machines, for about 1.65 billion Swedish crowns ($163.3 million).
“Tosei will significantly strengthen our position in Japan which is the second largest laundry market, and third largest food service market globally,” Electrolux Professional CEO Alberto Zanata said in a statement.
