specializing in new generation heat pumps, while Blink, a Dutch brand, is active in the production of devices for domestic ventilation, a sector that is still a niche sector that concerns in particular thermally insulated buildings, those with zero emissions of the new generation that still need a change of air and that are moving from the use of fossil fuel to that of renewable energy.
Coway breathes fresh air into IFA 2022 with its latest range of ‘Noble’ purifiers
Conall Lee, Senior Vice President, Product Strategy and Global Business, talked about the company’s latest innovations and plans for the European market in an interview with the IFA International.
Can you tell us a little about your latest water and air purifiers?
Coway is showcasing a total of 23 home health appliances, including new products with improvements in performance, design, and ease-of-use aimed at targeting our European market. The focus are our premium appliances, ‘Noble Collection’, the ‘Icon Water Purifier Series’ equipped with AI function, and the all-new air purifier ‘Art Columbia’. We will also introduce new additions for Airmega, our air purifier lineup, which will be featured to launch in Europe in Q2 2022. We are especially excited for our ‘Noble Collection’, which foster flawless hygiene and a self-maintenance function meant to improve the quality of life for our European consumers.
What are the health and wellness benefits of using these?
According to EFA(European Federation of Allergy and Airways Diseases Patients’ associations), Europeans spend approximately 90% of their time indoors. However, it has been discovered that indoor air can be 70% more polluted than outdoor air. Moreover, ceaseless pollutants such as dust, pollen, and pet allergens anywhere have recently threatened the minimal standard of European health criteria. I reckon Coway’s HyperCaptive™ air filtration system is a great solution to protect from those harmful contaminants.
What makes Coway’s products stand out compared to the competition?
Coway has tirelessly refined its expertise in the home appliance industry-since our founding back in 1989. We leverage our expertise in all facets of our business, such as research and development of products, production, quality assurance testing, quality management and distribution, to preemptively discern consumer needs and potential issues to address them promptly. How will the market for these evolve over the next few years?
Nowadays, consumers have a growing interest in air quality since they have begun spending more time at home thanks to the covid-pandemic. Most Europeans suffer from indoor air pollution, such as carpet dust, pet dander, and mold. In addition, CO2 (Carbon dioxide) emissions due to wildfires caused by Climate change, allergies and asthma caused by pollen and VOCs threaten public health. For those reasons, I anticipate European consumers will have a growing concern for “Clean air” as demand for air purifiers continues to grow.
How important are events like IFA for the industry?
It has been difficult to express the differentiations in our products in only virtual spaces. However, with the return of IFA events, we can now return to conversing with our potential customers to ascertain their evolving needs and new opinions.
LG unveils its “table-type” air purifier at IFA 2022
LG is presenting its new air purifier, the PuriCare Objet Collection Aero Furniture, at IFA 2022. The new table-type model blurs the line between furniture and air purifier, offering a design that can be tailored to meet individual preferences, 360-degree air purification and user-friendly features. “The LG Aero Furniture – the company explains – has a relatively small size that makes it perfect for smaller spaces, such as a single bedroom, study or studio, while users can choose the color of the unit’s base (Crème Rose, Crème Yellow to Crème Grey) and the shape of its table-top (Round or Track) to suit their personal tastes or match their home décor”. The smooth upper surface of the new product provides a useful place for storing household items or displaying decorative objects. It also integrates convenient controls on its underside for powering the device on/off, and for managing its airflow modes and mood lighting features. Subtly positioned near the edge of the table-top, and flush with its surface, is a series of small indicators denoting Wi-Fi connectivity, air quality, air flow strength and upgrade status. Besides, the new Aero Furniture presents an array of features for a more personalized user experience. Users can charge their smartphones and wireless earbuds via the table-top’s built-in wireless charger and create a pleasing atmosphere with the mood lighting feature. Providing eight different colors to choose from, Aero Furniture’s mood lighting can be easily controlled using the LG ThinQ app. Furthermore, the air purifier is designed with sustainability in mind, incorporating components fabricated from reusable plastic harvested from old appliances and electronics products, and shipping in packaging made from reusable materials. Finally, the product improves indoor air quality thanks to the multi-stage filtration, which combines Ultra-fine Filter, Dust Collector Filter and Deodorization Filter. Users can also enjoy cleaner indoor air thanks to the UVnano technology, which reduces the presence of viruses and bacteria on and around the Aero Furniture’s fan blades by up to 99.99 percent.
AEG NEW EXTRACTOR HOBS
AEG launch two new extractor hobs: the 6000 Bridge with eXTractor and the 8000 Bridge/FlexiBridge with eXTractor, designed to bring freedom to kitchen planning, as people upgrade and make the cooking space more sociable. Located in the middle of the hob, the extractor fan is activated once a cooking zone is used, powerfully removing vapor quietly and quickly at the source. It filters and recycles the air back into the room and the breeze function ensures a fume-free kitchen after the cooking has been completed, by continuing to refresh the air.
Sauberair launches innovative air purifier disguised as a “work of art”
Measuring an ultra-thin 3.5 inches, the Suberair FLAT can remove 99.9% harmful smoke and particles, eliminating a wide range of pollutants with minimum power consumption, the company says. It also boasts an extended filter lifespan compared to conventional purifiers.

The application has built-in smart sensors to detect and monitor the indoor air quality, humidity and temperature, while users can check and modify the filtering mode on the app anytime, and from anywhere.
As well as purifying the air, the FLAT BT features an integrated Bluetooth speaker which has been optimised for maximum sound quality. Users can play music with these built-in stereo speakers or it can serve as a music wake-up alarm.
According to the brand, FLAT is also the world’s first scalable purifier – meaning that two can be connected together and controlled simultaneously. In addition, its appearance can be changed according to customers’ preferences so that it better suits their home’s interior design, Sauberair says.
Why buy a FLAT air purifier?
World Health Organization data has shown that almost the entire global population (99%) breathe air which exceeds the international organisation’s guidelines for pollutants. This is not only happening in low- and middle-income countries, but also in the cities of developed nations. Air pollution is responsible for an estimated 7.4 million deaths every year, Sauber points out.
Problems with the air purifiers on the market
The business model of traditional air purifiers is ultimately built around selling filters, not the appliances themselves. Moreover, the filters’ lifespan is usually relatively short with replacement alerts based on the usage time, not the actual filter clogging rate. This is unscientific, the company says. Also, expensive filters dissuade consumers from replacing it when their time is up, which ultimately reduces its overall filtration effectiveness.
With its unique design, FLAT is much more efficient and effective than other models, identifying airflow passing through the filter, and alerting the user to when the filter should be changed, says Sauber.
Finally, FLAT has obtained invention patents in many countries and won The Made-in-Taiwan Golden Select Award, presented by the Taiwan Industry Development Bureau, Ministry of Economic Affairs, with the highest score from the jury.

Daikin Industries announced the intention to invest 300 million euros to establish a new factory for heat pump units at the Ksawerów Industrial Park in Lodz Province, Poland. The new production base will start operations in July 2024 to meet the rapidly increasing demand for heat pumps in Europe.
Over the past decade, the European heat pump heating market has grown by an average annual rate of 10% to achieve sales of 1 million units in 2021. The European Green Deal policy, which aims to eliminate greenhouse gas emissions in the EU region by 2050, has further accelerated the spread of heat pumps. Market expansion is forecast to hit annual sales of at least 3 million units by 2025.
Falmec Elements collection
Elements collection by Falmec becomes part of a modular, multifunctional architecture that is totally integrated into the kitchen. The “Elements” concept is expressed in different solutions designed to adapt to the multiple needs and types of installations in the kitchen. The range includes three new models: Monolith, Shelf and Air Wall.
Monolith is an element with a precious design, placed on the worktop, designed to meet the various needs in the kitchen, in a refined way. The system consists of a 90 cm suction element and accessory container modules – which can be placed on the right or left – of 30, 60 or 90 cm, which allow a functional and personalized set-up.

Shelf looks like a real suction shelf. Thanks to the exclusive Multi-Air technology, the suction body is extremely thin and incorporated into a shelf structure of only 10 cm, equipped with a removable cover, to increase suction capacity. The “hood” element can be enriched with additional modules of 60 and 90 cm, which can be positioned to the right or left of the extractor body to configure different furnishing compositions by creating a hanging system, which opens up new open design spaces.

Finally, Air Wall vertically integrates the extraction in an exclusive backlit white tempered glass panel, transforming the back of the kitchen into a functional surface, which sucks in the fumes and at the same time illuminates the space with a pleasant ambient light. The magnetic system of the panel also allows you to add functional accessories, which are also magnetic – such as tablet supports, spice racks and shelves – which allow the user to place them anywhere on the surface

Faber launches the K-LINK technology
Faber’s K-LINK technology creates a smart connection between induction hob and hood through an integrated system that works with radio waves. Thanks to a simple gesture, hob and hood are connected and communicate with each other, allowing a continuous flow in the preparation of the recipes, without having to stop to set the power of the hood based on that of the hob. The system, always active because the radio signal is never interrupted (not even in the presence of dirt residues on the hob), guarantees the perfect functionality of the hood, at the same time avoiding the waste of energy and decreasing the excess of noise that can occur by setting the suction at an excessive level compared to the fumes produced. There are several models featuring this technology, such as the ceiling hoods Heaven 2.0, Heaven Glass 2.0 Flat, Heaven Light Pro and Heaven Air.
