Electrolux Home Products fridge recalled by ACCC
The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission recalled the faulty Electrolux Home Products Beefeater Refrigerator series on Tuesday after concerns were raised about safety.
Sold both nationally and internationally, the fridges being recalled include the single and double door versions designed for outdoor use Water can penetrate the sealed electrical control board located on the rear of the refrigerator,” the ACCC warned.
“The refrigerator may cause a fire, posing a risk of injury to a consumer, and damage to property.”
Affected stock include model numbers BS28200 and BS28130 and have serial numbers ranging from 72900000 to 95299999 and 00100000 to 04599999 only.

Miele increase sales
In a challenging environment with overall declining markets, the Miele Group has grown once again and reports € 5.43 bn sales in 2022.
As in previous years, we produced, sold and shipped more products than ever before. An above-par contribution to this accomplishment came primarily from eastern European and Asian markets, including China, but long-standing markets such as Australia, Great Britain, the Netherlands and the USA gave a good hand, too. The contribution to turnover coming from outside Germany was 72%.
Roborock first washing machine
Robot vacuum manufacturer, Roborock, has released the Roborock H1 washing machine in China. The product is a reflection of the brand’s expanding portfolio within the smart home ecosystem. The Roborock H1 washing machine uses low-temperature air circulation to dry clothes efficiently without damage to the clothesThe H1 washing machine uses an energy-saving algorithm for the drying process together with Zeo-cycle low-temperature drying. It uses warm air circulation to remove water from the fabric and prevents shrinking. The built-in algorithm automatically stops drying when the machine detects dry clothes. There are 25 washing and drying modes available with the washing machine. The Roborock H1 has a self-cleaning mechanism and the machine can be controlled via its touchscreen or the companion app.
The washing machine can handle up to 12kg of clothes and is available in either black or white variants. The machine is 34.4 inches tall and can be pre-ordered from Roborock. The Roborock H1 washing machine has a 5,999 yuan (~$874) launch price with a 100 yuan (~$15) deposit until March 20. The original price of the H1 washing machine is 7,299 yuan (~$1,063). Roborock is yet to provide availability and pricing information on the product in overseas markets.Roborock has carved a niche for itself with its array of robot vacuum cleaners available in several markets. It hopes to leverage its excellent record in the home cleaning segment of the market to market the new H1 washing machine.
Middleby grows margins
Middleby Corporation told investors yesterday that it is well-placed to increase its manufacturing capacity and achieve improvements in production efficiencies after delivering record fourth quarter results.
The owner of brands such as TurboChef, Pitco and Lincat notched up group sales of $1 billion (£828m) during Q4, a 19% increase on the previous year and 14% organically.They have managed to achieve margin expansion over the previous year and sequentially from Q3 as a result of pricing, shifting its product mix towards higher technology solutions and disciplined cost control.
AO on the mend
Online electricals retailer AO World has hiked it annual earnings outlook for the third time in just over three months as it said cost-cutting efforts were paying off.profitability has seen a better-than-expected improvement as it drives cost savings thanks to a “resilient” customer base.Expects underlying earnings to be in the range of £37.5 million to £45 million for the full year, up from the £30 million to £40 million guided for last month.AO World slumped to a £12 million loss in its first half, with shares hammered last year following a series of profit warnings as the cost crisis hit consumer spending on white goods, and due to labour shortages and supply chain disruptionThe company started its turnaround plan with a £40 million fundraising round last summer in a bid to strengthen its balance sheet amid fears of a cash crunch.
AO has closed its loss-making German operation as part of the shake-up and has launched action to save at least £30 million a year by 2023-24 – including by recently axing senior and middle management jobs.
The firm has also ditched unprofitable products while introducing delivery charges and cutting cashback incentives to reduce the cost of sales.
