Midea, the first appliance manufacturer to obtain the new energy label A and sound level A

Midea , the world’s No. 1 selling manufacturer of air handling appliances *, has become the first Chinese brand to obtain the double A certification of energy label A and sound level A , of the new design standard eco-energy of the European Union.

The new regulation, which came into force on April 1 of this year, affects certain categories of household appliances, such as refrigerators, washing machines or dishwashers, and differs from the previous standard by changing their labels.

The new energy labeling has gone from being from A to A +++, to being from G to A. Consequently, the class A +++ up to now would be equivalent to the current C or lower, so the new standard seeks to give a margin of improves appliance manufacturers by encouraging them to develop much more efficient and environmentally friendly models.

Obtaining this certification by Midea has been possible thanks to the great efforts made by it in the field of innovation. During this year , it has opened 28 R&D centers in 11 countries. With them, the brand not only seeks to have the opportunity to launch better home appliances on the market, both in terms of design and efficiency, but also to contribute its grain of sand to the global technological race for the preservation of the planet. Likewise, the recognition comes from the launch of a new combi refrigerator with energy classification A and sound level A, to which, at the end of the year, a whole range of electrical appliances with energy certificates between C and A will be added. This range consists of combi and multi-door refrigerators, side by side and, chest and built in models

Electrolux Professional Loopcycle product traceability platform

Electrolux Professional has partnered with product traceability platform Loopcycle, in an effort to extend products’ lifecycle and improve circularity within the supply chain.

The platform allows users to register individual products from across the manufacturer’s commercial foodservice, beverage and laundry portfolios, and assign a unique Cyclecode to each. This enables dealers and end users to access a full mechanical history of the appliance, allowing them to more easily identify best practice and when to undertake servicing.

Loopcycle facilitates the tracking of appliances even if they’re sold on by the initial buyer. With a unique Cyclecode assigned to each unit, operators can ensure that they know exactly what they are purchasing when in the market for a second-hand appliance.

Miele solutions to reduce food waste

Miele proposes some solutions to minimise food waste. One of these is the PerfectFresh Pro system allowing food stay fresh for up to 5 times longer than in a conventional refrigerator vegetable drawer. The temperature range from 0°C to +3°C offers ideal conditions to extend the shelf life of meat, fish and many dairy products. According to the company, PerfectFresh Active even goes one step further: every 90 minutes and every time the door is opened, water aerosol is sprayed directly into the fresher drawer. This combination of low temperatures and humidity helps to avoid premature food spoilage. It also creates the conditions which protect the quality and nutrients in fruit and vegetables.

Another solutions that can help to reduce food waste is TasteControl in the oven, that prevents food from overcooking or drying out. Once the pre-set cooking time ends, the door opens to the ajar position, and the cooling fan expels hot air. This reduces the temperature by around 100°C within the space of 5 minutes. Then, the oven door closes again automatically, allowing food inside the oven to be actively kept warm at the required temperature.

Smart Food ID feature, instead, is a camera that detects the food in the oven and uses an automatic programme to control cooking. Miele explains that this is a feature which provides a valuable service in avoiding food wastage: Smart Food ID reduces the likelihood of food inadvertently burning and having to be thrown away. Miele’s CookAssist assumes a similar function: this smart helper makes constant temperature adjustments or even food overcooking a thing of the past. On the hob, Miele’s intelligent TempControl sensor guarantees the right temperature at all times by recognising the temperature of cookware and holding it automatically constant
