Hisense Europe special day

5th April was special day for Hisense Europe. Not only that on that exact day Gorenje brand celebrated its birthday, but on same day They had special visit from Slovenian Nordic national team – top ski jumpers, cross-country skiers and nordic combined, at our European headquarters in Velenje (Slovenia). This year’s visit was a double celebration – the medals that our Nordics won in Planica, and on the very day of their visit, Gorenje brand also celebrated its 73rd birthday, which as the proud sponsor of the Slovenian Nordic national teams has been for more than 30 years.

Although they are “old acquaintances”, this year we were also able to show the Nordics something new – the Hisense R&D Center, where they were welcomed by Dr. Boštjan Pečnik, Hisense Europe Executive Vice-President, responsible for Research and Development who presented the R&D Center, and Alenka Potočnik Anžič, Hisense Europe Marketing Director. “I am happy that we have been a long-standing partner of the Nordic national team, for more than 30 years and we are proud of it. It is about a kind of sustainable responsibility towards the environment in which we operate in Slovenia. We proudly support you and sincerely wish you both sporting and personal success in the future,” said Alenka Potočnik Anžič.

The Nordics team also got to know our design team, which made design for a ski jumping helmet for this year, which symbolizes an eagle. “We couldn’t have chosen a better sponsorship,” said Matevž Popič, head of Product Design at Hisense Europe. “We are all already like a family and we are happy to follow your successes and we will continue to cheer you on your way.”

After visiting every corner of our huge company in Velenje, Slovenian Nordic team stopped to visit local Handball Club Gorenje Velenje, which Gorenje brand is sponsoring for over 30 years as well.

By 2024, our packaging will be 100% recyclable
At Hisense Europe, sustainable operation is one of our core values, on the basis of which we have set ambitious sustainability goals focused on five key areas: environment, sustainable products, sustainable supply chain, people and social responsibility, and new business models. These goals include reducing energy consumption by optimizing renewable energy, increasing the use of recycled materials in products, reducing waste, promoting sustainable transport and strengthening the sustainability of the supply chain.

The company’s focus on sustainability is evident in its efforts to recycle 96% of generated waste, use 100% recyclable packaging by 2024, and reduce CO2emissions from transportation. The prestigious EcoVadis silver medal shows that Hisense Europe has developed the right strategy to increase the sustainability of its business models.

Significant progress over the past five years
A company must address all stages of production to minimize its carbon footprint, including energy consumption during production, materials used in products and their lifespan, and packaging and transportation processes. In these areas, Hisense Europe has made significant progress over the past five years, with a 38% reduction in water consumption and a 24% reduction in electricity consumption.

Made in Europe, Hisense and Gorenje household appliances are made from excellent, environmentally sound and degradable materials and undergo rigorous testing to extend their lifespan. Another important aspect is the availability of spare parts and easy product servicing.

Investing in the personal and professional growth of employees is one of the priorities

One of our goals is also to promote a healthy work-life balance and an active lifestyle.

Receiving the EcoVadis medal proves that Hisense Europe is moving in the right direction – that our products and operations are becoming as sustainable as possible. “Sustainability is at the heart of our values and we will continue to strive to reduce our impact on the environment and, as one of the key economic entities in the region, the country and beyond, to promote social responsibility. Hisense Europe is officially opening an innovation center in Velenje

Hisense Europe, the European part of the Chinese technology group Hisense, which also includes Gorenje, is officially opening an innovation center next week in Velenje. The grand opening of the center for research and development in the field of household appliances for the whole of Europe and for kitchen and premium appliances for the global market will take place on Monday. In the invitation to the event, Hisense Europe, which is based in Velenje, wrote that the development of technology and devices within the group will take place in Velenje, regardless of where the production of individual devices will take place and which market they will be intended for.

With the opening of the center, for which they have been preparing for a long time, “Hisense further strengthens the importance of Slovenia as its central European production and development location, which also brings new investments and jobs”, the corporation pointed out.

Hisense Europe has business units in 27 European countries, as well as three production and four research and development centers. In the group, the field of research and development was identified as one of the most important pillars of the company’s development. This is also why they have invested a lot of money for this purpose in recent years – last year there was talk of 50 million euros – and the group has also strengthened the recruitment of technological staff.

In addition to Velenj, the group has so far carried out research and development activities in Slovenia in Ljubljana and Maribor.
