Elica sustainability

After announcing last January the attainment of a suitability certification for hydrogen operation of motors manufactured in its subsidiary company EMC FIME, Elica has been continuing in its path towards environmental impact reduction, thanks to a new electrical energy supply agreement stipulated with Iberdrola, one of the world leaders in renewable energy: in 2022, Elica will be able to reduce its own emissions by over 4,000 tons in Italy, which equals to 20% of the total emissions of the Group. “Elica – said Giulio Cocci, CEO of Elica – is by nature a sustainable company: we have always followed a strategy that adopts ESG principles, which, over the years, has brought us to identify areas in need of improvement and put real actions into place, geared towards reducing our environmental impact. The agreement with Iberdrola comes into play in this specific scenario: we have already started the process in our Italian production sites, therefore we will significantly reduce emissions in our country. As a world leader in our sector, we feel the responsibility of reducing our environmental impact and we are determined to adopt this approach at all business levels and in every area of the world where we are operating. Sustainability is not just a ‘must’ that we intend to pursue with our utmost commitment and pragmatism: we are striving to make it a driver for growth”. Elica has recently established a “Sustainability Committee”, made up of an in-company team, representing all the main business areas, with the aim of identifying the impact areas and sustainable development targets for the upcoming years. In another tangible step towards environmental impact reduction and energy efficiency creation, Elica’s development plans also include investments in new photovoltaic systems, which have already been implemented in its Italian production sites

Elica purifier extractor hood

According to World Health Organization we spend 90% of our time in closed spaces and breathing clean air greatly benefits both our health and mood. For this reason, #Elica is launching its new hood with integrated purifier, #IkonaMaxxiPure. Two products in one, designed to take care of household air every day, because well-being starts at home.

The Elica Ikona Maxxi Pure extractor hood is nothing new. It is an island model 120 cm long with an otherwise quite wise design. But if we look at the technical sheet, we discover that it not only includes a classic air filtration system for a hood (grid and carbon filters, therefore), but also an air purifier similar to those which enrich our test after test comparison. To these conventional barriers is therefore added a HEPA filter which must retain particles larger than one micron.

To avoid seeing said filter being saturated too quickly with grease and fumes, the air purifier part (which also accommodates an activated carbon filter, a combination called Combo Pure Filter by the manufacturer) does not suck what comes through the underside of the hood. This stale atmosphere is first treated by the “extractor hood” part before being rejected towards the top of the Ikona Maxxi Pure, from where it will be sucked by the air purification system to be finally rid of the last. harmful elements (formaldehyde, VOCs, allergens, etc.) it contains.

Note that each function of the extractor hood can be used independently. It is therefore not necessary to start the entire filtration circuit if you only want to purify the air in the room when you are not cooking.

At its maximum suction level, the Elica Ikona Maxxi Pure extractor hood can swallow 475 m³ / h, which is suitable for a kitchen of 19 m²

NikolaTesla Flame, Elica’s first gas suction plate

Elica has launched NikolaTesla Flame, an exclusive gas suction plate, which allows to reach the right balance so that the burner flames remain stable without loss of efficiency.

The product has been designed with aesthetics and functionality in mind. It is made of black or gray tempered glass, combined with black cast iron materials. All cast iron components are removable and washable.

The plate has four burners of different sizes, one of which is dual. The double crown has an independent ignition between the large and the small burner, which allows using very small diameter materials for cooking.

It also provides a wider space, for maximum freedom of movement even when using large pots at the same time. The closed cross grates guarantee stability in pans of all sizes, even in woks, thanks to the included accessory.

The gas suction plate has fixed controls of black color to control the burners, while the suction is handled electronically, by means of a continuous rotary control.

NikolaTesla Flame is available in a suction and filter version.
