Kärcher robotic vacuum cleaners – precise navigation, wip

Kärcher presents a new generation of robotic vacuum cleaners that say goodbye to chaotic driving around the space, completely unsystematic cleaning and insufficient suction power. Meet the RCV 5 and RCV 3 vacuum cleaners, which clean and mop with precision.

It has been more than 20 years since the world’s first robotic vacuum cleaners were introduced. For many years they remained a certain curiosity, a technological fad that perhaps reduced the frequency of manual cleaning a little, but no revolution in the maintenance of cleanliness in the home took place. However, innovation, progress and new technologies have gradually moved robotic vacuum cleaners to greater autonomy. In particular, the key LiDAR technology, which finally enabled the robot to orient itself in space with high accuracy, to systematically plan the cleaning of individual rooms and then implement it. And that’s exactly what the new Kärcher robots are. The higher model RCV 5 then adds some more premium features including detection of lying objects.

The Kärcher RCV 5
is not afraid of cables or children’s toys
Although the alpha and omega of this vacuum cleaner is LiDAR, which allows it to perfectly map the household, navigation alone is not enough for quality cleaning. Kärcher therefore equipped the RCV 5 with a front camera that detects obstacles in the way. Using artificial intelligence, the robot can recognize shoes, toys, socks, as well as the aforementioned cables that used to cause them to get stuck in older types of robots. The cable wound up on the rotary brush and the robot could not cope with such a situation. The RCV 5 model prevents these caroms to complete the cleaning without the assistance of the user. When it comes to thresholds, it can cross those with a height of up to 2 cm and there is no danger of falling down the stairs.Mapping space and applications
Thanks to Lidar, the robot creates a map of the apartment after the first few cleanings, which it displays in the Home Robots app from the Kärcher company. The program interface is, of course, in the Czech language, and the voice output of the robot itself, which informs the user about its status if necessary, is also localized. If we go back to the map, it is of course available to the user – so he can purposefully send the robot to different rooms or set different cleaning parameters. The names of the rooms can be personalized, you can choose a zone where, for example, you will not mop or clean at all, etc. Many users will also be pleased that Kärcher, as a manufacturer based in Germany, places great emphasis on data protection and ensures that all applicable legal requirements are met in this regard.SELL magazine

High suction power
Thanks to a suction power of up to 5,000 Pa, the robot can handle dirt on all types of surfaces, including carpets. The bottom rotating brush helps with the collection of dirt, as well as the side brush for better cleaning along the walls. You can of course set the suction power, or leave it to the vacuum cleaner to determine it by itself depending on the type of surface. The ultrasonic sensor recognizes that the robot has entered the carpet, and the Auto Boost function is activated to achieve maximum suction.Dry dirt and mop function
The tidy mess ends up in a removable container with a volume of 330 ml. Of course, the air at the outlet passes through a filter so that even fine dust particles and other impurities do not get back into the room.

When cleaning hard floors, you will appreciate the presence of a mop that can be optionally attached. In the application, you can set zones or rooms where wet cleaning should take place. In the rest of the room, water is not drained from the 240 ml reservoir for the mop.
