Currys edges down profit guidance after ‘challenging’ Christmas
Electricals retailer Currys has edged down its full year profit guidance after what it called a “challenging” technology market at Christmas with uneven customer demand and supply disruption.
The group, which trades from more than 800 stores in seven countries and online, said it expected to deliver a full-year 2021-22 adjusted pretax profit of around £155 million, versus last month’s guidance of about £160 million and £156 million made in 2020-21.
Currys said like-for-like revenue fell 5% in the 10 weeks to Jan. 8 year-on-year, but was up 4% against the same period in 2019-20, before the pandemic impacted trading.
Miele UK delivery partner
Miele has appointed two-person home delivery specialist ArrowXL to handle more than 2,500 consumer home deliveries each month across the UK.
Customers are able to use the 24-hour delivery service to nominate their delivery day. The ArrowXL service also includes an unpack and position feature, where the delivery team disconnect old appliances and connect the new ones as well as removing and recycling all unwanted packaging.

RKW creates 80 new jobs after securing eight-figure investment from HSBC

A company which designs, manufactures and sells domestic appliances for big-name brands is creating dozens of new jobs after securing an eight-figure funding package from HSBC.
RKW, the trading division of Sutton Venture Group, says the investment is being used to created 80 new roles at the business and turn its huge warehouse, based on Stone Business Park, into 24 hour operation
The family-owned company already employs more than 500 staff across three distribution centres, its Stoke-on-Trent headquarters in Fenton, and offices in Hong Kong, India and China.Established in 1989, RKW designs, manufactures and distributes small domestic appliances and housewares for leading brands including Black and Decker, Lavazza, Morphy Richards, Tower, Smeg, Swan, Russell Hobbs and Breville. AO World shares dive 24 per cent amid driver shortage and supply chain problems
Shares in AO World plunged this morning after the online electrical retailer reported an operating loss of £11m in the six months to 30 September 2021, as a shortage of drivers and global supply chain issues stalled growth in the UK.
The disappointing results come a year after the UK-based company recorded an operating profit of £16m for the same period.
