Haier is committed to achieving at least 60% renewable energy at all their manufacturing sites by 2025. In 2022-2023, they have already reduced our operational emissions by over 20%* through the implementation of a range of energy efficiency solutions at our manufacturing sites.
Haier is delighted to have reached another milestone towards this goal: the installation of a 3.3 MW solar panel at the factory in Jinling, China, which is able to produce 3.6 million kWh per year, covering 15% of the plant’s energy consumption.
Haier will continue to look for new ways to improve sustainability and energy efficiency across all Haier Europe manufacturing sites, as we look forward to contributing to a more sustainable future for business and the planet.
From 2030, Schulthess will be producing in a climate-neutral way,” said Thomas Marder, Schulthess CEO. “This includes sustainable, resource-conserving products and services as well as efficient processes for a functioning circular economy.”
The current Schulthess Sustainability Report, which is based on the Global Reporting Initiative GRI standard, has been produced on a voluntary basis.
“We wish to show our customers, employees, business partners, shareholders and the public how serious we are about protecting the environment,” said Marder.
Electrolux Group, Italy is the first country in Europe to have all production sites certified “Zero Waste to Landfill” by Intertek, an independent external certification body. “Thanks to innovative projects, the scouting of new partners and technologies, the definition of procedures, the collaboration with suppliers and above all the commitment of the people who work at our sites – explains Massimiliano Ranieri, CEO of Electrolux Italia – we succeeded in 2022 to recycle and recover 99.7% of the waste produced, for a total of over 19,800 tonnes. Net of the approximately 2% that was converted into energy, this result led to an annual saving of over 56,000 tonnes of CO2 equivalent. This is an extraordinary result, which confirms how sustainability is at the center of Electrolux’s strategy from multiple points of view. Certainly from a product point of view, given that our appliances enable significant energy savings for consumers, but also from a production point of view, as demonstrated by the targets achieved thanks to the Zero Waste to Landfill programme”. The certification provides that less than 1% of the waste produced in each plant can be sent to landfill or incinerated without energy recovery. Electrolux Group has further raised the bar, going beyond the certifier’s requirements and compliance with the Italian and European law on waste management, disposal and transport. In fact, it has established that its production sites limit below 3% the waste that can be converted into energy. A desire that has a precise objective: to favor recycling and reuse projects.
CLEANR won four “Best of IFA 2023” awards for its innovative microplastic filter technology designed for washing machines.
CLEANR’s technology, inspired by natural filtration systems found in fish and other marine life, could potentially prevent over 280 million plastic bags’ equivalent from entering waterways annually in the EU and U.S. Its unique approach uses fluid patterns to create a vortex that isolates microplastics, outperforming traditional filtration methods by over 300 percent. Rigorous testing has validated its superiority.
Global appliance company Electrolux Group – under its premium brand AEG – is showcasing, for the first time, its most resource-efficient models at IFA 2023: the AEG EcoLine. AEG EcoLine is a dedicated selection, presented in-store and online, of the company’s most resource efficient appliances covering all major product categories and aimed at helping consumers to reduce climate impact while providing high-quality performance. The sustainable selection of appliances from the current AEG and Electrolux portfolio as well as the new AEG SaphirMatt induction hob with scratch-resistant glass will be revealed at IFA 2023
According to Electrolux Group’s science-based approach and Life Cycle Assessments (LCAs), approximately 85% [1] of the global climate impact of an appliance, during its lifespan, is generated when it is in use. Therefore, to help reduce climate impact while providing high-quality performance, all models within AEG EcoLine have been designed to be used effortlessly, at their top efficiency, every day while meeting the brand’s strongest energy label ratings.
“Technological innovation is at the heart of every model within AEG EcoLine with functions designed to make life of consumers more enjoyable while making it easy to take more sustainable choices. Resource efficiency and performance without compromise is what consumers want and it’s what AEG EcoLine delivers,” says Chris Braam, CEO Europe Electrolux Group.
“We chose IFA 2023 to present the AEG EcoLine selection to an international audience because of its important role in highlighting innovation. AEG EcoLine is a significant step forward in making resource-efficient models stand out when people are looking for an appliance in-store or online, and we are very much looking forward to showcasing it to our trade partners and consumers in Berlin,” adds Braam.
Better than the best A rating The new AEG EcoLine selection covers all the main product categories ensuring it meets the appliances needs of the entire home.
Within laundry, AEG EcoLine will be showing washers which have an energy rating better than the best A rating on the market and with resource saving features such as AutoDose, which saves detergent, and UltraWash which cleans efficiently at 30ºC and saves 30% energy [2]. AEG EcoLine tumble dryers with heat pump technology can save up to 68% more energy versus a traditional tumble dryer [3]. AEG EcoLine ovens retain minerals and vitamins while using up to 20% less energy when cooking with steam [4], and a steam cleaning function saves up to 95% energy versus pyro cleaning [5]. The new AEG 7000 cordless cleaner is made with up to 70% recycled plastic, when using Auto Mode, it can save up to 47% energy and prolong running time [6]. Other appliances included in the AEG EcoLine are hobs, hoods, dishwashers, free-standing cookers and air purifiers
With the launch of AtEase (Electrolux Group’s new product subscription-based service for Sweden), consumers can make more sustainable choices. This innovation is part of Group’s ambition to reduce electronic waste and contribute to the circular economy, with Swedish consumers having the option to subscribe to a new product or a refurbished one. AtEase is an all-inclusive service that covers everything needed to keep the appliance running smoothly, including proactive maintenance, automatic shipments of accessories, and support (the appliance is replaced within three days if a fault occurs during the subscription). Crucially, every product returned to Electrolux Group is refurbished for reuse or gives life to new appliances by donating its parts. “If the product is too damaged or worn to be refurbished, we can reuse parts such as circuit boards, rubber bumpers, or casings to extend the life of other products. In fact, 75% of the parts we use in the refurbishment of a robot vacuum cleaner have been harvested from an end-of-life product”, says James Ostridge, Product as a Service Director. The products currently offered through AtEase include the Pure i9 robotic vacuum cleaner, Well A7 air purifier and Pure A9 air purifier. Further floor and air care products will be introduced later this year, and more products, including kitchen and garment care, will be added to the service over time. The launch of AtEase is a natural step following a successful pilot launched in 2019 to offer Swedish consumers the Pure i9 on a subscription pay-per-use basis. AtEase will also be introduced to further markets beyond Sweden in the coming years.
