Haier Egypt Ramps Up Expansion as Local Content Drive Intensifies

Haier is accelerating its Egypt manufacturing push, with the Ministry of Industry urging the brand to deepen localisation across its fast‑growing 10th of Ramadan complex.

The 200,000 sqm site, backed by $135m investment, already produces AC systems, household air conditioners, washing machines and TVs, supported by metal forming and plastics. Output tops 1m units, with 30% exported.

A new refrigeration and freezer line goes live in November, adding 500,000 units of annual capacity and strengthening Haier’s regional cooling portfolio.

Local component ratios currently stand at 42.6% for VRF systems and 65% for household ACs. The Ministry wants these figures higher and is pushing Haier to localise more specialised parts — including chillers — with support from the Industrial Modernization Center.

Haier Egypt CEO Yang Linping reaffirmed continued investment, talent development and a stronger “Made in Egypt” export identity.
