Taurus expansion

Grupo Taurus, a leading Spanish company in the small appliance sector with more than 200 million turnover, announces the acquisition of the renowned French company Supra. The operation is another step of the Taurus group in its expansion and growth plan in Europe, also reflected in the acquisition of the license rights of the Black + DeckerTM brand in 2018.

Supra, with almost 150 years of history, is a benchmark in innovation and sustainability and a precursor to Insert technology internationally. Its product range covers the entire range of heating, both portable electros as stoves and insert fireplaces. The brand is an expert in pellet-based combustion stoves (Biomass), an ecological solution for thermal air conditioning needs. The main brands of the group are Supra and Richard Le Droff, premium brand specialized in chimneys and Inserts.

With this acquisition, the Taurus group meets a triple objective:

On the one hand, it strengthens and grows its position in the French market, where it already participates with its subsidiary White & Brown, which markets its wide range of small appliance products: Taurus, Solac and especially the Taurus-Alpatec brand, highlighted in the sector of portable air conditioning.

In addition, the operation is a firm commitment of the group to consolidate in the renewable and sustainable energy sector, since Biomass and Insert heating combustion is an efficient and highly ecological option.

Finally, the acquisition of Supra is also a strong commitment to European manufacturing “made in France”. From its headquarters in Obernai (Alsace), most of its stoves and fireplaces are designed and manufactured and it also has an important R&D center that, in addition to those already existing in Spain and in other Group subsidiaries, They will bring great innovations and sustainable solutions to the entire product range.

In its constant commitment to strengthen its European presence, the Taurus group adds the Supra company to the list of its subsidiaries in France, Portugal and Italy, and soon in Germany. This together with the subsidiaries of the group that are located in Mexico, South Africa, Morocco, India, China and Peru, makes it have an international presence and be a worldwide reference in the small appliance sector.

Taurus Group reaches 203 million euros of turnover after its corporate restructuring

Taurus Group has closed a successful fiscal year 2018, marked by the change of ownership and a major business restructuring that has led to the sale of the Brazil division.

Brazil represented 16.7% of the turnover and contributed negatively to the net result of the group.

After this sale, all divisions have a positive contribution to the net result. During fiscal year 2018, Taurus achieved significant growth in all divisions with net sales of 203 million euros (+ 5.6%), an ordinary EBITDA that reached 19.9 million euros (+ 5.9%) , which represents 9.8% of sales, and a net profit from continuing operations of 10.8 million euros (+ 21.4%). This good evolution is based on Western Europe, North America, Asia and Africa.

At December 31, 2018, a net profit of 4.4 million euros was presented, as a result of the negative impact produced by the interrupted operations (Brazil division) worth 6.4 million euros.

The evolution of exchange rates during the year 2018 slowed growth by 4.8%, mainly caused by the Mexican peso, the Indian rupee and the South African rand.

The product development continues to be promoted in the plants distributed throughout the world as a differentiating element with added value for the consumer. An example of success in the exercise has been the Mycook intelligent kitchen robot, designed, developed and manufactured entirely in Spain.

The Group’s forecast is to reach 216 million euros at the end of 2019 while maintaining similar levels of profitability and investment.

Much of the growth of 2019 is the result of the launch of a new range of products under the Black + DeckerTM brand with sales expectations of around 6 million euros. In 2018, the license rights for the Black + DeckerTM brand of small appliances for Europe, Turkey and Russia were acquired.

Within the strategic plan, inorganic growth is contemplated through the acquisition of companies in the same sector both to consolidate positions in the countries in which it operates and to enter new markets

Taurus Group presents 70 new products

Taurus Group will be present for the fourth consecutive year at IFA Berlin, with its brands Taurus, Solac and Black + Decker.

The brands of the group will present in a larger space than in previous editions (hall 9, stand 206) both their outstanding historical products and their latest developments. One more year the group is committed to connectable products, presenting several appliances that interact with the smartphone or tablet.

Mycook Touch, the first Wi-Fi connectable kitchen robot, will once again play a very important role within the stand, making continuous demonstrations.

Espresso coffee machines will be the central axis of the space that the Solac brand will occupy within the company’s stand. The new family of Squissita electronic coffee makers, manufactured in Portugal, is the brand’s great commitment for the second half of 2019, with the intention of continuing to position itself as a leading brand in the coffee maker family. All this without neglecting the usual news in the ironing family, which this year will be backed by the new models of CVG compact ironing centers.

Black + Decker, meanwhile, expands the range of kitchen products finished in stainless steel and ironing, while betting on a new model of super-automatic coffee maker that will delight coffee experts.
