Haier sustainability report
Haier Europe has published its 2023 Sustainability Report , highlighting significant achievements in reducing its environmental impact and improving its operational performance. The report highlights the company’s strategic investments in renewable energy, waste reduction and new innovations for sustainable production in its factories around the world, marking an important step in its commitment to environmental sustainability.
In 2023, Haier Europe achieved a 96% waste recovery rate and expanded its renewable energy capacity, with major solar installations, including a 5.25 MWp plant in Turkey and a 3.3 MW system in China. The company recently obtained the International Renewable Energy Certificate (I-REC) , certifying that 100% of the electricity used in manufacturing and administrative operations in Turkey in 2024 comes from renewable sources. These results support the company’s goal of covering 60% of energy needs with renewable sources in all factories by 2025 , in line with the Science Based Targets (SBTi) initiative.

Haier targets India growth
Pending government approval, Haier’s joint venture aligns with its growth strategy to meet India’s rising demand.Haier Group is planning a joint venture (JV) with India’s JSW Group, aiming at a proposed investment of Rs 1,000 crore. Sources indicate that Haier has submitted its proposal to the Indian government, as required under Press Note 3 of 2020, which mandates government approval for investments from countries sharing land borders with India. The application is currently under review by an inter-ministerial committee headed by the Home Secretary.

Haier Successfully Completes Acquisition of Carrier Commercial Refrigeration
Haier Smart Home Co., Ltd. , a global leader in consumer electronics and home appliances, announced the successful completion of its acquisition of Carrier Commercial Refrigeration from Carrier Global Corporation for an enterprise value of approximately $775 million. The technologies related to commercial refrigeration that the company owns or is licensed to use, including carbon dioxide technology, will contribute to environmental improvements, promote green transformation in enterprises, and benefit society. This acquisition further enriches Haier Smart Home’s diverse product portfolio and signifies an enhanced strategic positioning in the global commercial refrigeration market.
Haier Group lays foundation stone for Phase 2 of production complex in Egypt
Haier Group laid the foundation stone for the second phase of its Haier Eco-Friendly Complex located in 10th of Ramadan City, Egypt.
Spanning an additional 50,000 square metres, the second phase comes with a $40 million investment and a planned production capacity of 300,000 units comprising refrigerators and freezers, Ahmed El-Gendy, Haier’s Director in Egypt said.
The new expansion builds on the first phase, inaugurated in May 2023, which was established with an investment of $100 million and encompasses three factories and ancillary plants. The first phase currently produces over 1.5 million units and has created 2,000 direct and indirect jobs. The second phase is expected to create around 1,000 new jobs in the supply chain.
Haier announces new MD for Europe
Haier Europe announce the appointment of Diego Perrone as the new Managing Director for UK & Ireland.
In his new role, Perrone will be responsible for expanding Haier Europe’s leadership in the UK and Irish markets and driving profitability and business growth. He joined Haier Europe in 2022 as Head of Cooling with accountability for product leadership and the company’s business in the refrigeration segment.
