GE Appliances, a Haier company, has prided itself on a history of innovation, with much of it occurring at Louisville, Kentucky-based Appliance Park.
Now, GE Appliances is innovating again with its all-new Spanish-language washer and dryer set targeted toward the company’s Hispanic buyers with a control panel in Spanish and other features based on cultural preferences.
“This is the first, as we know it, Spanish washing machine in the U.S. that’s purely in Spanish,” said David Wilson, senior commercial director of clothes care at GE Appliances. “Hopefully, it becomes the next big innovation product for us.”

Samsung Electronics to launch AI washer-dryer in Korea
Samsung Electronics Co. will launch its artificial intelligence (AI)-powered integrated washer-dryer, Bespoke AI Combo, as early as later this month in Korea.
The Bespoke AI Combo is expected to be launched in Korea first at the end of this month before global release.
In September 2023, Samsung Electronics unveiled a concept model of the all-in-one washer-dryer at the 2023 Internationale Funkausstellung Berlin (IFA), one of Europe’s largest home appliance exhibitions. The finalized product, Bespoke AI Combo, was presented at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas in January 2024.
The washer-and-dryer streamlines laundry processes and boasts over 40 percent higher space efficiency compared to traditional stacked models.
It also offers an AI custom course that tailors washing and drying settings based on laundry specifics like weight, fabric, and soil level.
Equipped with the digital inverter heat pump from the existing Bespoke AI dryer, it delivers drying performance on par with standalone dryers.

Electrolux washing with steam
All new Electrolux and AEG washing machines ranges in Europe from Series 7 and above are equipped with a steam program. In APAC & MEA, select washing machine ranges are now equipped with steam programs to sanitize or refresh clothes, and machines in North America and Latin America are equipped with steam programs to remove dirt and tough stains from fibers.
As Electrolux explains, functions such as SteamCare and ProSteam use over 96% less water and 30% less energy compared to a complete washing cycle. The gentle SteamCare program – said Calina Gavril, Care Experience Marketing Director for Electrolux Group – enables consumers to quickly refresh one or two garments at a time, such as a blouse or shirt. In 25 minutes, gentle steam removes creases, odors and restores that newly washed feeling to even delicate garments.
Our consumer research – adds Isabell Foyer, European Category Manager, Washing Machines – consistently shows that steam is one of the most appreciated functions, and that it continues to have high consumer appeal. Changing laundry behavior takes time, but we are seeing more consumers changing their laundry behavior to reduce their environmental impact and costs, particularly in light of higher energy prices.

The device is slimmer than other models from the brand, ensuring it sits flush with other units, with a direct drive motor to reduce vibrations. Smart features include automatic detergent dispensing, voice commands and app controls.The Xiaomi Mijia Ultra-Thin Washing and Drying Machine 10kg is now available to pre-order in China. Beko unveils energy-saving technologies
Beko have unveiled the latest energy efficient appliance offerings in their Beko and Grundig ranges. The company used the recent IFA 2023 trade fair in Berlin as an opportunity to showcase their brands’ latest technologies and emphasise the importance of innovation in the company’s overall strategy.
Highlighting the impact of collective action towards more sustainable communities, the company introduced during IFA 2023 the “positive domino effect” philosophy which drives Beko plc’s product strategy and technology innovation. The event culminated in the reveal of two new key technologies under the company’s global brands: EnergySpin by Beko and AI-Sense by Grundig.
By reinventing the conventional laundry process, Beko’s EnergySpin technology helps to reduce a household’s energy consumption. Rather than relying heavily on heat to dissolve detergent and eliminate stains, EnergySpin technology releases the detergent upfront. It harnesses the power of faster-than-usual drum speeds to elevate the pace at which the detergent dissolves.
