LG Elec to open heat pump research laboratory in Alaska
LG Electronics Inc. plans to open LG Advanced Cold Climate Heat Pump Laboratory in Alaska, the US for the development of heating, ventilation, & air conditioning (HVAC) that performs in extreme low temperatures.
The company announced on Monday it launched the Consortium for Advanced Heat-pump Research with the University of Alaska Anchorage (UAA) and the University of Alaska Fairbanks (UAF) in Anchorage, the US.

Midea starts work on new heat pump plant in Italy
Chinese home appliance maker Midea Group began construction of a new base for the production and research and development of heat pumps in Feltre, a town of Veneto in northern Italy, on Friday, aiming to help facilitate its international market expansion.
The new base, with an investment of 60 million euros ($58.75 million), is located inside a production area of Italy’s Clivet, a European leading company that designs, produces and distributes systems for cooling, heating, air ventilation and air purification for residential, commercial and industrial markets.
Midea acquired an 80 percent stake in Clivet in 2016, aiming to expand its presence in the European central air conditioning market
Daikin new heat pump facility
Daikin Industries announced the intention to invest 300 million euros to establish a new factory for heat pump units at the Ksawerów Industrial Park in Lodz Province, Poland. The new production base will start operations in July 2024 to meet the rapidly increasing demand for heat pumps in Europe.
Over the past decade, the European heat pump heating market has grown by an average annual rate of 10% to achieve sales of 1 million units in 2021. The European Green Deal policy, which aims to eliminate greenhouse gas emissions in the EU region by 2050, has further accelerated the spread of heat pumps. Market expansion is forecast to hit annual sales of at least 3 million units by 2025.
