AirO from Baraldi

AirO’ technology by Baraldi
Wall by Baraldi is equipped with the AirO’ module, which uses plasma technology to enrich the air with negative ions that are beneficial for health. So bad odors can be quickly eliminated from the kitchen and, leaving the device in operation for a few hours, it is also possible to break down viruses, bacteria, mould, spores and fungi by up to 99.5%. AirO’ is designed to last over 45,000 hours without the need for maintenance. Furthermore, it is independent of the main flow of the suction motor and can therefore be activated only when needed. In addition, it has a timer that allows to turn off the purification function after 1 or 24 hours. Wall is available in black or stainless steel colors and features 4 speeds (including intensive mode), high power and low consumption LEDs and electronic control panel. The hood, filtering or aspirating, has an automatic switch-off function, indicators for cleaning and replacing filters, and a washable multi-layer aluminum grease filter.

New from Novy

Novy presented its new products for next year. The most important concerns developments in its Easy cooker hood, which becomes quieter. The size of the motor will also be reduced, thus limiting the space taken up under the work surface. It will also be available in a smaller size (65 cm). The Belgian brand also took the opportunity to showcase its Lighting range,The Easy table with integrated hood is available in 65 cm
Next year, Novy will upgrade its Easy ventilated cooktop. Currently offered in a size of 80 cm, it will also exist from spring 2024 in a 65 cm format (with a standard recess of 46×59 cm, specifies Frédéric Duseaux). The aim is to respond to the need to equip smaller spaces and to offer an offer adapted to tighter budgets, but while retaining the fundamentals of the brand.
The two versions of the Easy ventilated table will benefit from the same characteristics in terms of ventilation and cooking, in particular two flexible zones with octagonal inductors. There is also a seven-layer metal filter block, a long-lasting one-piece filter (which can be used for four years before replacing it, without any maintenance), automatic adaptation of the hood’s operation and a 5-year warrantyNovy’s R&D teams have also made the Easy cooktop quieter (maximum sound level of 66 dB), by working on both insulation and air flow circulation. Frédéric Duseaux explains that it is not only a question of sound level but of perception of noise: “it is a question of frequencies. We removed all the sharp peaks to get a round sound, to make it less unpleasant.” In the middle of the living room, we were able to hold a conversation while remaining next to the device whose ventilation was set to its maximum level. This optimized version of the Easy table hood will enter production from March 2024.

Less clutter under the worktop
Like other manufacturers, Novy seeks to facilitate implementation to meet the needs of kitchen designers, who are also facing a shortage of fitters. The new generation Easy ventilated table will benefit from another development which goes in this direction. Novy reworked the height of the engine, which lost 1 cm. This allows you to return to 21.5 cm of recess (including the glass). Which means that under the worktop, we only remove the first drawer, without encroaching on the second. If this meets the expectations of kitchen designers, end customers will also appreciate this space saving.
In addition, the brand’s vacuum tables can be installed for evacuation or recycling, which is the case in 90% of kitchens, according to Frédéric Duseaux. Installation is thus simplified with equivalent efficiency. “Today equipment has evolved a lot in recycling and air treatment. There is almost no difference anymore. The main thing is related to the use of the product. You must respect the fundamentals, namely turn on your hood or extractor table 15 minutes before cooking and leave it running for 30 minutes at the end of the cycle to eliminate all smoke and humidity, and to dry the entire unit. filtering and reinjecting dry air into the living room

LG Elec to open heat pump research laboratory in Alaska

LG Electronics Inc. plans to open LG Advanced Cold Climate Heat Pump Laboratory in Alaska, the US for the development of heating, ventilation, & air conditioning (HVAC) that performs in extreme low temperatures.

The company announced on Monday it launched the Consortium for Advanced Heat-pump Research with the University of Alaska Anchorage (UAA) and the University of Alaska Fairbanks (UAF) in Anchorage, the US.

HAVC products with heat pump techs perform poorly in severe cold because the pressure to compress refrigerant is reduced, resulting in less refrigerant circulating.

In the polar regions of Alaska, new experiments can be conducted that take into account environmental conditions and variables such as snow, rain, and extreme low temperatures that cannot be reproduced in traditional laboratories

Elica results

Elica turnover -14% in the first 9 months but margins hold up.The good performance of own brands does not compensate for the continuous slowdown in OEM orders in cooking and recently also in heat pumps Board of Directors of Elica SpA approved the results as of 30 September 2023. Revenues fell significantly: 360 million which means -14% compared to the first 9 months of 2022. The weakness of cooking continued, aggravated by a significant slowdown in the heating motors segment.
In this context, Elica managed to defend the margin which remained at 10.4%, no small achievement for an industrial company. In fact, EBITDA fell consistently with sales: -13.4%. The same goes for profits: 9.6 million, i.e. 13.3% less than the first 9 months of last year. Debt did not increase compared to the previous quarter: 47 million.

Cooking: – 14%
The Cooking division, which represents 77% of total turnover, recorded a decline of -14.6% (-13.7% at constant exchange rates and scope). The destocking phase in the OEM area continues , recording a significant double-digit contraction. In other words: Elica’s client brands do not sell and therefore produce less and do not buy components. Elica’s own brands perform better than the market and are more profitableDespite a persistent negative scenario, we proactively and quickly addressed unexpected challenges, integrating these variables into our managerial style, rather than playing defense. The actions and projects launched, both at product and distribution level, will give us the possibility of restarting at double speed as soon as the market becomes receptive again and – even in the event of a still difficult scenario – they will be further levers to pull to start again to grow ” declared Francesco Casoli, President of Elica.

Midea’s PortaSplit Receives Prestigious Award at IFA,

The spotlight falls on Midea’s PortaSplit, a smart air conditioner that combines cutting-edge cooling technology with unprecedented flexibility. This innovative home appliance is set to make its market debut in 2024 and Midea is proud to unveil the product at IFA 2023.

Unlike conventional AC units, the Midea PortaSplit seamlessly merges the portability of a portable AC with the superior cooling capacity and efficiency of a split AC. This unique fusion delivers powerful and tranquil cooling comfort, defying the limitations of existing cooling solutions.

Notably, Midea’s PortaSplit is a direct response to the needs of modern consumers. It has been a longstanding challenge in balancing cooling efficiency, energy conservation, flexibility, and ease of installation. “With a permanent split air conditioner, an installer is necessary. However, there are often long waiting times of up to four months due to high demand. If you don’t inquire early enough, you’ll miss out on having it installed for the summer. Cost is another concern, as installation alone can be around 2000 euro not including the price of the air conditioner. The Midea PortaSplit offers a more affordable option,” said Manuel Seethaler, Head of Public Relationship and Strategy at Midea RAC Germany Research Center in Stuttgart The PortaSplit introduces two key innovations. It’s the first plug-and-play split AC without the need for fixed installation. Another remarkable feature of the PortaSplit is its outstanding cooling performance. It is a portable AC that has the same efficiency as a conventional split AC, with a strong cooling capacity of 3.5 kW and a Seasonal Energy Efficiency Rating (SEER) of 6.1, surpassing all other portable ACs in the market.Additionally, the PortaSplit includes the Air Magic+ technology, which purifies the air by emitting negative ions and reducing the spread of bacteria and viruses. This added layer of protection underscores Midea’s commitment to user well-being and health.Soundproofing technology, allowing the air conditioner to operate at a mere 39dB in silent mode. This ensures restful sleep
