Dreo ChefMaker the world’s first combi fryer secures $1 M on Kickstarter in a day

The Dreo ChefMaker won the CES 2023 Innovation Award and raised $1 million in just one day with over 5,000 backers, reaching 11,500% of its funding goal on May 23, 2023
Dreo, a leading innovator in home appliances, has launched its first crowdfunding campaign on Kickstarter for the Dreo ChefMaker. The product is a world-first combination combi fryer that combines the best features of an air fryer, sous vide cooker, grill, and convection oven into a single device. Designed with input from master chefs, the device uses patented CombiCook technology to deliver precise cooking results. Its ease of use means that anyone can get perfect results every time they cook.

Unlike other kitchen appliances, the Dreo ChefMaker’s heat probe senses the doneness of food and adjusts cooking parameters accordingly, while convection heating circulates the air to give meats a beautiful crust without overcooking. A built-in atomizer ensures that food stays tender and juicy throughout the process, providing restaurant-quality results.

“Although it is the first time for Dreo to carry out a crowdfunding project, the success this time was not surprising,” comments Herman, Vice President of Dreo. “Dreo ChefMaker is a disruptive kitchen appliance that simplifies cooking and allows users to enjoy top-notch food at home.”

Dreo is a company that focuses on the research and development of smart home appliances, always putting product technology innovation and quality first. The Dreo ChefMaker is a prime example of its commitment to innovation, design, and quality.

The ChefMaker’s CombiCook technology combines hardware and software to intelligently manage the cooking process from start to finish. With just a few button presses, users can cook a delicious meal with the combi fryer. ChefMaker can automatically adjust moisture, heat, and time to cook food of any shape or size to perfection.

The crowdfunding project is ongoing and will run until July 11 but Dreo starts mass production now. The Dreo ChefMaker will be available on Dreo.com and also planned to log on to shopping platforms such as Amazon and Walmart in the third quarter.

Wilfa wins both the Red Dot and iF Design Awards 2023 for Probaker and Smooth Mix

Functional and user-friendly design with smart functions is the main focus when Wilfa develops new products. We are therefore proud to be recognized for this work by both the Red Dot Award and the iF Design Award, and to receive awards for product design 2023 for both the Probaker kitchen machine and the Smooth Mix hand mixer.

– It is a pleasure to receive awards from two recognized institutions, for two product designs, after extensive development and design processes. We see this as confirmation of our focus and determination in the work with innovative product development, says Morten Hoff, CEO of Wilfa.

In connection with the Red Dot Award, the products have been thoroughly reviewed and assessed according to, among other things, design quality and degree of innovation. Being selected from among a strong group of participants is, according to the Red Dot Award, testimony to the products’ extraordinary quality.

The iF Final Jury evaluates each product based on five criteria: differentiation, form, function, idea and effect. Both the Probaker kitchen machine and the Smooth Mix hand mixer received high scores on each of the five criteria – with the emphasis on form and idea for Probaker and differentiation for Smooth Mix.

Wilfa Probaker kitchen machine

The Probaker kitchen machine is designed to utilize functions that are unique to professional kitchenmachines, and with a minimalist appearance adapted to the Nordic home. The product’s visual form is strongly linked to function.

The Probaker kitchen machine and the Smooth Mix hand mixer are winners of both the Red Dot and iF Design Awards 2023.

In the development process, Wilfa and Eker Design collaborated with both the Norwegian national baking team and hand-picked, enthusiastic hobby bakers to achieve the goal of creating a kitchen machine that provides a professional baking result for all users, regardless of experience.

Wilfa Smooth Mix hand mixer

Smooth Mix is designed and developed with ease of use in mind. By focusing on the tactile points in addition to the functional properties, Wilfa Smooth Mix feels like something new. Special emphasis has been placed on the geometry of the whisks, which are optimized for efficient whipping of cream, egg whites and the like.

In the design and development process, we have combined our internal product development resources with the Norwegian design agency Permafrost. Together with our baking experts, the goal was to achieve optimal settings for low and high speed, with enough torque to handle dough hooks and heavy workloads, all in a stylish package
