Samsung Launch Slim Combo and Washer Models in the UK

Samsung has launched its new Slim Combo and Washer models in the UK, focusing on energy efficiency, space saving, and smart connectivity. These appliances feature SpaceMax™ technology for a larger drum in a slimmer 480mm depth, saving 12.7% space compared to standard models while maintaining a 9kg capacity. AI Ecobubble™ ensures efficient cleaning, exceeding the A energy rating by up to 10% and improving stain removal and fabric care. SmartThings integration with AI Energy Mode allows users to monitor and reduce energy consumption by up to 70% on select cycles. Clothing Care on SmartThings provides personalized laundry recommendations based on usage, weather, and seasonality. The AI Wash feature intelligently optimizes water usage, and the Auto Dispense now offers a flex option for up to four different detergent types.

Dreame launch in UK

Whirlpool UK new MD

Whirlpool UK, the company behind the Whirlpool, Hotpoint and Indesit brands, has announced the appointment of James Goldsmith as the new managing director, UK and Ireland.Goldsmith has worked at Whirlpool for 25 years in a variety of positions and a wealth of knowledge and experience not only of the company and its brands but also the wider appliance industry, to the role of MD.Earlier this year Whirlpool announced it was partnering with Arçelik to launch a new standalone European home appliance business. The deal is not expected to close until the second half of 2023 but, the new company, which is yet to be named, will have exclusive manufacturing and distribution of the majority of Whirlpool and Arçelik’s leading brands including Hotpoint, Indesit, Beko and Whirlpool (under licence). Arçelik will own 75% of the new entity while Whirlpool will own 25%.

New Whirlpool UK MD

Whirlpool UK Appliances Limited, the home of Hotpoint, has announced the appointment of Lena Henry as Managing Director, UK and Ireland.

Lena is a highly experienced Managing Director with expertise in leading complex business initiatives across a multitude of markets, both mature and emerging. Beginning her career at McKinsey & Company, a global management consultancy firm, Lena advised several leading and internationally recognised businesses on commercial and operational matters across a variety of product categories, with a focus on consumer and retail industries.

Lena then joined Essilor, the world leader in ophthalmic optics, where she worked her way through the ranks until taking on her most recent role with the company as Managing Director, Essilor France. During her time at Essilor, Lena oversaw corporate strategy, including the implementation of commercial initiatives, in addition to leading greenfield e-commerce launches on a global scale.

Combining a wealth of knowledge across a variety of markets, with experience across both consultancy and client-focused roles, Lena also brings a strong educational background to her new role at Whirlpool UK. In addition to receiving Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Engineering and Structural Engineering and Mechanics of Materials, Lena obtained an MBA in Business Administration from Harvard Business School.
