Midea’s “Double Decker” Two Zone Air Fryer has earned the esteemed USA TODAY Reviewed Awards in the in the Inspired Home Show 2024, marking another success in culinary innovation.
The awards are independently selected by Reviewed’s editors. The “Double Decker” stood out thanks to its space-saving feature and its capability of fulfilling multiple functions in one small appliance. “This unique air fryer features a traditional air-fry basket above a toaster-oven style cavity,” Reviewed’s editor said, “combining the best elements of basket-style air fryers and air fryer toaster ovens.”
Equipped with 10 cooking functions ranging from air frying to dehydrating, this appliance exemplifies Midea’s commitment to delivering innovative solutions that enhance everyday living experiences.

Midea ups global investment

Chinese home appliance maker Midea Group will increase investment in localized research and development, and expand its footprint in Southeast Asia, Latin America and the Middle East.

The move is part of Midea’s strategy to grow new sources of revenue and make its brand influential abroad.Midea started as an OEM or original equipment manufacturer at the early stage in North America, but determined to develop company-owned brands in an attempt to enhance its core competitiveness globally. Currently, Midea’s household air conditioners command a 60 percent market share in North America.

Midea unveils new WASHBOT washer dryer with hidden robot vacuum

Midea has announced WASHBOT, a new combined robot vacuum cleaner and washing machine, which it claims is a world first. The company says it has designed the gadget to help save space in the home, with self-cleaning docking stations of popular models like the Roborock Q Revo Robot Vacuum and Mop taking up 19.2 x 13.4 (~488 x 340 mm) floor space and measuring 22-in (~560 mm) tall.

Another benefit of the combined washing machine and robot vacuum dock is a single connection point to your plumbing to cover clean water refilling and dirty water draining for both devices. The washing machine offers AI-powered gentle steam cleaning and can softly dry clothes at 42°C (~108°F). The robot vacuum is suitable for spaces up to 200 m² (~2,153 ft²), with features like obstacle detection and a nifty auto-cut system that helps remove tangled hair. The self-emptying docking station allows up to 60 days of hands-free cleaning, sanitizing the mop with hot water cleaning and hot air drying.

The machine is 600 mm (~24-in) wide, similar to other cabinets in your kitchen or laundry room. The Midea WASHBOT will soon begin crowdfunding on Indiegogo; the exact campaign launch date and pledge levels have yet to be revealed.

Home appliance giant Midea’s revenue up 7.7 percent in January-September

Midea Group saw its revenue rise 7.67 percent year on year in the first three quarters of 2023,The company realized a total net profit of 27.7 billion yuan during the period, up 13.27 percent year on year, according to the report.

In the third quarter alone, Midea Group achieved a revenue of 94.1 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 7.32 percent, and a net profit of 9.5 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 11.93 percent.

To date, the Fortune 500 company has 31 research and development centers and 40 major production bases worldwide.

Midea has been actively working towards a greener and more sustainable future through its Kitchen & Water Heater Appliances Division lineupTÜV RHEINLAND Green Product Mark certification for Midea’s dishwasher encompasses a comprehensive evaluation across six dimensions — Corporate Social Responsibility, Environment Management, Products Climate Resilience (e.g. Carbon Emission Evaluation), Recycled Material Content, Hazard Substances, End of Life. This rigorous assessment ensures that Midea’s products adhere to high standards of environmental responsibility and performance.

In terms of design, Midea crafted its high-energy-efficiency dishwasher that meets top-level A class energy efficiency standards. The TÜV RHEINLAND Green Product Mark certification ensures that the product meets these standards align with European Union regulations for ecological design and energy labeling., during production, Midea minimizes the use of harmful chemicals in its products to reduce their environmental impact and potential harm to humans. Both the dishwasher and packaging materials tested comply with relevant EU environmental regulations. Common harmful substances like phthalates, TBBPA and MCCP were found far below the regulated limits. Additionally, Midea adopts food contact materials in the dishwasher’s interior components to ensure food safety.Midea is also committed to product recycling and reuse, as it aims to minimize plastic waste. Its dishwasher boasts a WEEE (Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment) Reuse/Recycling Rate exceeding 87%, with a Recovery Rate surpassing 94%. Moreover, the Company adopts over 30% of recycled material in the dishwasher’s plastic parts (enclosure and stand).

Meanwhile, Midea manages carbon emissions responsibly using low-carbon materials, renewable energy sources like photovoltaic energy, and shorter transportation distances. The calculated carbon emission stands at 192.87 kg CO2eq/item (System boundaries: cradle to the gate), and the score of products repairability index is 8.3.

Midea could acquire Zanussi and its activities in Egypt

According to Egyptian media Midea Group is considering the acquisition of Zanussi brand from Electrolux Group . The acquisition deal is expected to be finalized by the fourth quarter of 2023.

In July, the Swedish giant had appointed Societè Generale to handle the sale of the Zanussi, Ideal, Faure, Zanker, Rosenlew, Elektro-Helios, Zoppas, Olympic Electric and Kwikot brands and activities in Africa and the Middle East.

Electrolux’s activities in Egypt became relevant in 2011 with the acquisition of Egyptian Olympic Group, the largest white goods manufacturer based in the Middle East. Electrolux employs 2,238 people in Egypt.
