Turkish white goods giant Arçelik has officially opened its new €200 million ($224 million) washing machine factory in Manisa, marking a significant expansion of its domestic manufacturing footprint.
The state-of-the-art facility, located in the Manisa Organized Industrial Zone, was inaugurated on 23 October 2026. Spanning 92,000 square metres, the plant integrates high levels of automation, digital systems and R&D capabilities. Arçelik took over the production campus in 2021 and has transformed it into one of its most advanced manufacturing sites.
Capacity and Export Focus
The new factory has an annual production capacity of nearly 4 million washing machines. According to Arçelik CEO Can Dinçer, 44% of output is destined for export markets across 106 countries. The company employs around 1,800 people across its washing machine and refrigerator operations in Manisa.
Automation levels at the plant have reached 75%, incorporating automated material-handling vehicles and robotic production systems. These technologies aim to improve efficiency while reducing the physical demands on workers.
Sustainability at the Core
Sustainability features prominently at the Manisa campus. A solar power plant generates electricity equivalent to approximately 46% of the factory’s needs, while a rainwater harvesting system helps cut water consumption. Direct greenhouse gas emissions at the facility have been reduced by 95%, Dinçer noted.
Part of a Larger Investment Drive
The Manisa washing machine plant forms part of a broader investment programme. Koç Holding Durable Goods Group President Polat Şen stated that the group has invested approximately €458 million ($513 million) in Türkiye over the past five years, including this facility.
Şen emphasised the company’s long-term confidence in Türkiye, highlighting technology and workforce development as key priorities. As Koç Holding marks its 100th anniversary, the group continues to combine Türkiye’s established manufacturing strengths with advanced technologies.
Arçelik’s Global Footprint
Arçelik currently operates 38 manufacturing facilities across 13 countries and employs nearly 45,000 people worldwide. In the first half of 2026, the company reported consolidated net sales of ₺280 billion ($5.6 billion), with overseas sales accounting for 65.3% of total revenue. Its factories produced 14.9 million major household appliances during the period.
The opening of the Manisa plant reinforces Arçelik’s position as a major player in the global white goods industry and underscores Türkiye’s growing role as a competitive manufacturing base for home appliances.
