Changhong unveiled a comprehensive suite of AI-driven home appliances

At the Appliance & Electronics World Expo (AWE 2025) opened on March 20 in Shanghai, Changhong unveiled a comprehensive suite of AI-driven home appliances. Changhong also introduced the dual-zone PRO air conditioner for combined living and dining spaces. This AI-powered system offers a comprehensive upgrade in user experience, specifically designed to meet the needs of integrated environments Changhong’s booth, the Pure Color series refrigerator impresses with its high capacity and AI-driven rapid ice-making in 60 minutes. Its ultra-thin design appeals to younger consumers, enhancing aesthetics and lifestyle. The exhibition showcased residential and commercial refrigeration equipment, including the Blue Oxygen washing and drying set, highlighting Changhong’s technological advancements. Notable exhibits included the M Fresh Life, Frozen Fresh Life, Worry-free Embedded Pro, and more. The Changhong Smart Home System integrates intelligent control, energy efficiency, and security, offering energy savings and AI-driven solutions for personalized household needs.

Changhong’s extensive product at AWE 2025 highlighted its shift from traditional home appliance production to smart manufacturing. The presence of voice actors from the hit Ne Zha animated movie series added a cultural touch to Changhong’s booth, enhancing its impact at the event.

Danes interactive repair map

Danes can get a deduction for repairing white goods as part of the service deduction. But many do not know where to find a repairman 🔧 To solve this problem, ASWO Denmark has launched an interactive repairman map that makes it easy to find local repairmen via Google Maps. With this initiative and the new deduction, it is hoped to reduce the number of white goods that are unnecessarily discarded each year

The initiative consists of a repairer map , which is a Google Maps map where you can find the nearest repair option based on your geographical location in the country.

New AEG cooker hoods

The cooker hoods in the new AEG Kitchen Range are not just our most striking and energy-efficient to date, they also offer a greater degree of customisation for the kitchen environment – something we know is increasingly important for design clients.

APPLiA’s Director General Paolo Falcioni, took the stage today at the Appliance & Electronics World Expo (AWE) 2025 Summit in Shanghai 🇨🇳, hosted by the China Household Electrical Appliances Association (CHEAA).

Xiaomi sales increase

Xiaomi Corporation posted a record 2024, with a growth of 35.0% and total revenue of RMB 365.9 billion (€47.6 billion). Adjusted net profit increased by 41.3% YoY to RMB 27.2 billion (€3.5 billion)

Large-scale smart appliances saw a 56.4% YoY increase, with record shipments:

Air conditioners: +50% YoY (over 6.8 million units)
Refrigerators: +30% YoY (over 2.7 million units)
Washing machines: +45% YoY (over 1.9 million units)

Currys recycling

Currys plc teamed up with Cancer Research UK (CRUK) to recycle unsellable tech donations from charity shops. Items will be collected at Currys’ depots, then refurbished, repaired, or responsibly recycled.Recycling over 50,000 tonnes of e-waste each year, Currys is the nation’s number one retail tech recycler and on an important mission to give technology a longer life. This has never been more important, as the UK lags behind other nations1 in-e-waste recycling

Miele Shines with 14 iF Design Awards for Innovation and Sustainability

14 Miele products and product ranges have won the IF Design Awards. These include innovative vacuum cleaners, elegant washing machines, distinctive refrigerators, designer cooker hoods and professional appliances with outstanding features.

American dimensions, European sustainability standards : the MasterCool range of large refrigerators and freezers is increasingly conquering the European market. The iF Award was given to the new built-in refrigerator combinations, which will be launched this autumn. The jury appreciated the premium design with high-quality materials such as brushed stainless steel, the clean lines and the many practical functions, as well as the increased energy efficiency.

LG record investment

LG Electronics Inc., South Korea’s leading home appliances maker, said Monday it made a record investment of 4.76 trillion won ($3.3 billion) in research and development last year to foster future growth engines.

The company’s R&D investment marked an 11.2 percent increase from a year earlier in 2024 to hit the highest mark in its history, LG Electronics said in a regulatory filing.

The investment accounted for 5.4 percent of LG Electronics’ annual revenue of 87.7 trillion won in 2024, up from the corresponding tally of 5.1 percent the previous year.

The company said it made investments to bolster its competitiveness in future growth engines, including home appliance technologies backed by artificial intelligence and electronic devices for automobiles as well as heating, ventilating and air conditioning technologies.

The company added it plans to invest 4.3 trillion won in advancing the quality of its products and developing new models this year.

In detail, it plans to spend 1.16 trillion won on home appliances business and 936.9 billion won on automotive electronics business, while using 1.7 trillion won for R&D and infrastructure.

The regulatory report also showed LG Electronics possessed 26,566 domestic patents and 69,765 overseas patents as of December, with most of them related to technologies in smartphones, televisions and other major businesses of the company.

Last year, LG Electronics manufactured automotive electronics devices for a record 39.9 million vehicles, and generated all-time high sales of 1.67 trillion won in the home appliances rental business
