China’s White Goods Production Mixed in First Nine Months of 2026

China’s production of major home appliances showed mixed performance during the first nine months of 2026, with refrigerator and washing machine output increasing while air conditioner and television production declined.

According to data from China’s National Bureau of Statistics (NBS), refrigerator production rose by 11% year on year to 88.4 million units between January and September. Washing machine output increased by 3.9% to 91.8 million units.

Air conditioner production fell by 3.5% to 202.3 million units over the same period, while television output declined by 8.7% to 125.8 million units.

The figures highlight differing production trends across China’s major appliance categories, with refrigerators recording the strongest growth among the four product groups.

China remains a key global manufacturing centre for home appliances, making production trends an important indicator for the wider white goods industry.
