New executive director for technology for the Miele Group.

Stefan Breit has been nominated new executive director for technology for the Miele Group. He takes the place of Eduard Sailer, that announced his retirement last September. Stefan Breit is currently managing director of the appliance manufacturing plant in Gütersloh. The changeover will take place at the end of the year. The manager began his industrial career with the electronic and mechatronic specialist company Kostal in Lüdenscheid. Prior to this, he studied mechanical engineering at the RWTH Aachen University (main focus on production technology) where he gained his Dr.-Ing. engineering doctorate. He joined Miele in 2007 at the Bielefeld factory where one year later he was appointed head of domestic dishwasher production, and from the start of 2009 he was promoted to head of the factory.

Hoover Candy trade show room

Household appliance manufacturer Hoover Candy has opened a showroom for its trade customers and partners at its Bromborough site, on the Wirral.

The showroom, which features its latest appliances was opened by the Mayor of the Wirral, Cllr Les Rowlands.

Marketing director of Hoover’s freestanding division, Steve Macdonald commented: “This is a fantastic facility, which includes an Innovation Zone to showcase our very latest Hoover and Candy designs before they are even released to the market.

“This investment also demonstrates our increased support for retailers as the showroom’s primary purpose is to provide a one-top destination for them to view the latest innovations in our range and meet with our product experts.”

Having over 100 years of experience of manufacturing appliances, Hoover Candy currently employs over 550 people in the UK. According to the company, within the last three months Hoover Candy has grown market share and reports 1:10 white good appliances purchased in the UK is a Hoover or Candy appliance.

Candy presents the new range of combined refrigerators Krió Suite with Puraction technology, a special system, developed with the Milan Polytechnics University, that eliminates up to 99.9% of bacteria inside the appliance. Thanks to the association of the special titanium permanent filter with Led lights and Uva rays, 99.9% of bacteria are eliminated in 8 minutes, in case of No Frost Plus models with Multiflow column, or in 30 minutes in the case of ventilated Bio-Frost refrigerators. In addition to the increasing od the hygiene and the food preservation, this new technology also allows to reduce bad odors. The new range of Candy refrigerators includes many versions: Bio No Frost, Total No Frost, 185 cm and 200 cm, with design in white or inox.

iF Design Awards

The new Lg Signature ranges of appliances were awarded with a great amount of iF Design Awards 2016 in many categories. The company received 28 awards, including the iF Gold Award assigned to Lg Signature refrigerator and Lg Signature washing machine. Lg Signature Oled Tv and Lg Signatiure purifier were among the 25 Lg products honored with iF Design Awards. The Lg products were selected among 5,295 products entered the competition, where only 75 received awards for their design innovation. Lg Signature washing machine combines a 12kg front-load washer and a 2kg mini washer on the bottom to enhance wash efficiency. It also features a tempered glass door and a circular 7-inch touch display composed of high-grade enamel. The Lg Signature is characterized by some interesting innovations to refrigerator design, including the addition of a new minimalistic secret Door-in-Door compartment and a Knock-on feature which makes the opaque door transparent with two quick “knocks”. And the new Auto Door Open feature automatically opens the door when a person approaches the refrigerator, allowing for quick and easy access even with arms full of groceries. Lg’s third iF Gold went to the Gram 15 laptop (model 15Z960) which weighs only 980g while sporting a 15.6 inch (39.6 cm) screen.
