Electrolux Reaches Agreement in Italy, With Job Cuts Limited to Voluntary Departures

Electrolux has reached an agreement with Italian unions and the government on a revised restructuring plan that significantly reduces planned job losses and commits more than €100 million to investment in its Italian operations.

The agreement cuts the number of planned departures from the original 1,719 to a maximum of 902, with all departures to be voluntary and supported by financial incentives and employment support measures.

The deal follows more than 30 hours of negotiations and aims to protect Electrolux’s manufacturing presence in Italy. The company expects annual production to reach approximately 3.2 million appliances by the end of the plan.

All major production sites will be retained, with continued investment at Porcia, Susegana, Solaro and Forlì. Porcia will strengthen its washing machine and washer-dryer production, while existing production plans at the other sites have also been confirmed.

At Cerreto d’Esi, production will continue at current levels while a longer-term reindustrialisation solution is sought to protect the 149 employees at the site.

The €100 million investment programme will support product development and manufacturing processes, helping secure the future of Electrolux’s Italian operations.

The agreement represents a significant change from the original restructuring proposal, although the final arrangements will still need to be considered by employees.
