Electrolux–Midea Collaboration Update

Electrolux and Midea have taken the next major step in their North American restructuring plan,

Securing joint control of Electrolux Home Products de Mexico and formally activating three new joint ventures that will reshape how refrigeration and laundry products are developed, manufactured and sold across the region.

A Restructuring Plan Becomes Reality
The April announcement laid out the blueprint. This follow‑up confirms the build‑out:
Electrolux and Midea will now operate together across sales strategy, refrigeration manufacturing, and laundry production, creating a shared industrial ecosystem designed to boost competitiveness, reduce costs and accelerate product development.

Joint Venture 1: Sales & Product Strategy (50/50)
The first JV establishes a unified commercial front for North America:
A 50‑50 partnership focused on food‑preservation products.
– Joint development of refrigeration platforms for Electrolux and Midea brands.
– Shared responsibility for product strategy, commercial planning and portfolio alignment.

This marks a shift from brand‑by‑brand planning to a coordinated regional strategy, aiming to streamline launches and strengthen retailer relationships.

Joint Venture 2: Refrigeration Manufacturing in Juarez
The second JV centres on Electrolux’s Juarez, Mexico refrigeration operations:
Midea takes a 65% stake in the legal entities tied to refrigeration production.
Electrolux retains 35%, maintaining strategic influence.
Electrolux’s fabric‑care operations in Juarez remain fully separate and outside the JV.

This move positions Juarez as a high‑volume, efficiency‑driven refrigeration hub, leveraging Midea’s manufacturing scale and Electrolux’s product expertise.

Joint Venture 3: Laundry Manufacturing in Anderson, South Carolina
The third JV transforms Electrolux’s Anderson site:
The factory will shift from refrigeration to laundry production.
Electrolux will hold 55%, Midea 45%.  Refrigerator production winds down by July 2026.
Laundry manufacturing begins in H1 2027.

This repurposing aligns Anderson with long‑term demand trends and gives Electrolux–Midea a dedicated U.S. laundry hub.
Strategic Impact: A New North American Operating Model
Together, the three ventures create a binational manufacturing and development network:
Shared sales and product strategy
Consolidated refrigeration production in Mexico
Expanded laundry capability in the U.S.

The collaboration blends Electrolux’s brand strength with Midea’s manufacturing efficiency, aiming to deliver faster innovation cycles, improved cost structures and a more competitive product lineup for retailers across the region.
What Happens Next
With joint control secured and JV structures in place, the partnership now moves into operational rollout:

– Transitioning production lines in Juarez and Anderson
– Integrating sales and development teams
– Preparing new refrigeration and laundry platforms for 2027–2028
– Managing workforce changes and new hiring phases

The Electrolux–Midea partnership is no longer a plan on paper — it’s now shaping the future of North American appliance manufacturing.
