Samsung is making its connected white goods even smarter with the rollout of Tizen 10.0. The update brings new AI capabilities, a refreshed user experience and improved voice controls to selected Bespoke refrigerators and washing machines

Rather than limiting the latest features to brand-new appliances, Samsung is also extending support to a range of existing models. This could give compatible products a significant upgrade without requiring owners to replace their appliances.

Smarter refrigerators with AI

Selected Bespoke refrigerators, particularly Family Hub models equipped with cameras and AI Vision, will gain enhanced AI functionality.

The improvements are designed to help the refrigerator recognise food more effectively and make everyday tasks, such as managing groceries and planning meals, more convenient. Some supported models will also receive features including Now Brief and What’s for Today?, although availability will depend on the specific appliance.

A more natural Bixby experience for washing machines

Samsung is also improving Bixby on compatible Bespoke washing machines and laundry appliances.

The updated voice assistant is intended to understand natural language more effectively, making conversations with the appliance feel less rigid. Instead of relying solely on simple commands, users may be able to ask questions such as when a wash cycle will finish and receive a conversational response.

The interface itself is also set to become easier to use, helping owners access important controls and information more quickly.

Easy Mode simplifies the display

Some washing machines with a 7-inch Smart Screen will receive a new Easy Mode. The feature introduces a simplified screen layout that puts key information and controls front and centre.

This could make it easier for users to find the right programme or check essential settings without navigating through multiple menus. However, Easy Mode will initially be limited to selected compatible models.

Extending the life of connected appliances

The Tizen 10.0 update highlights how software is becoming increasingly important in the white goods market. A refrigerator or washing machine is no longer limited to the features it had when it left the factory.

With regular software updates, compatible smart appliances can gain new capabilities and a more modern user experience over time. For owners of supported Samsung Bespoke models, the latest update could therefore help keep their appliances useful and relevant for longer.
