LG unveils modular ‘Smart Cottage’ homes with AI appliances

LG Electronics launched its “LG Smart Cottage,” a compact modular home featuring integrated artificial intelligence (AI) appliances and advanced heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems. The company announced on Wednesday that it has opened an official website for Smart Cottage sales, targeting both individual consumers looking for secondary homes near urban or rural areas and corporate or institutional buyers.

The Smart Cottage blends space, appliances, and services into a compact housing solution. It was initially showcased at IFA 2023, Europe’s largest consumer electronics trade show held in Berlin in September 2023 and has since appeared at various domestic and international events.

Inside, the cottage comes equipped with LG’s premium “Objet Collection” appliances, including the WashTower Compact, a dishwasher, induction cooktop, microwave oven, and water purifier. It also features smart home technologies such as a smart door lock, CCTV, motorized blinds, and IoT devices – all of which can be managed through the LG ThinQ app. The cottage can also be upgraded with LG’s upcoming AI Home Hub, “ThinQ ON,” to create a fully connected smart home environment.
