New energy labelling rules to improve quality of information for consumers

Starting on 22 October 2024, digital identity verification will become mandatory for all suppliers registering their product models in the European Product Registry for Energy Labelling (EPREL) under implementing rules adopted earlier this year.

The verification requirement will help guarantee the quality, reliability and usefulness of the information provided to consumers and public authorities via the EPREL database, where all energy-labelled products must be registered by suppliers when placed on the EU market. Unverified suppliers will no longer be able to register products, and any products placed on the market by unverified suppliers after this date will not appear in general searches in the EPREL database

Galanz launch new products are Canton fair

First phase of the 136th Canton Fair, held from October 15-19, is underway. The Electronics & Appliance Category features over 3,000 exhibitors, with a total of 193,700 products uploaded to the online platform which marks a 47.41% increase compared to the previous session.Galanz, a key exhibitor, is showcasing over 200 products across more than 10 categories, including integrated appliances such as microwaves, refrigerators, and smart home solutions. “At this session, Galanz’s exhibition booth is the largest it has ever been,” a Galanz representative stated.

CLEAR group calls for VAT to be dropped on spare parts, repairs, labour

Newly formed group of UK electronics companies is advocating for the removal of VAT on electronic spare parts, repairs, and labor in the government’s upcoming autumn budget, claiming this would encourage consumers to get kit repaired instead of replacing it.

The group, which calls itself CLEAR (Circular Leadership for Electronics and Recycling), says it aims to address the growing issue of electronic waste and the barriers preventing consumers from repairing rather than replacing electrical items

Luxury appliance brand V-ZUG celebrates its 111th anniversary this year. Hisense target High-end

Chinese home appliance maker Hisense Group has accelerated steps to expand its footprint in Europe, Africa, the Americas, the Middle East, Australia and Southeast Asia and ramped up its investment in technological innovation to target high-end markets abroad.

Jia Shaoqian, chairman of Hisense, said the company has set up 26 R&D centers, 36 industrial parks and production bases and 64 overseas branches across the globe.

Jia also highlighted the company’s determination and commitment to pressing ahead with its globalization strategy.

Jia said the company has established a complete industrial system, including R&D, production, sales, supply chain and services, while making forays into overseas markets, in order to better serve local markets and consumers. It aims to strengthen capacities in localized manufacturing, research and development, and talent cultivation.

Hisense’s revenue reached 202.2 billion yuan ($28.6 billion) in 2023, while its overseas sales stood at 85.8 billion yuan, accounting for more than 42.5 percent of the company’s total revenue.
