Alessandro Micelli has been appointed as new sales director of the kitchen channel at BSH Italy. The manager joins the company after a long career in the consumer service area in important realities such as Indesit/Whirlpool, where he covered relevant functions in the national market and abroad. «I accepted with great pleasure the proposal of BSH Appliances, leader company in the sector with brands of great value. Whirlpool and Elica India

Elica, Italian manufacturer of kitchen hoods, and Whirlpool have recently announced the closure of an important agreement for operating together on the Indian market.
Elica will sell 33% of share capital of its Indian subsidiary Elica PB India Private to Whirlpool of India Limited, together with the other Indian minority shareholders disposing of 16%. On closing, Whirlpool of India Limited will acquire in total 49% of the Indian subsidiary of Elica S.p.A. Alongside the acquisition of the investment, Whirlpool of India Limited will sign an exclusive distribution agreement for a number of its cooking segment products with Elica PB India Private to speed up the development of its business on the Indian market, using the Elica local distribution structure which, over the last two years, has opened several mono brand stores.

Whirlpool new Cleveland factory boss

Whirlpool Corporation has named Richard Owusu to lead its Cleveland Operations as plant leader.He replaces former plant leader Dicky Walters, who retired in May.Owusu comes to Whirlpool from Fiat Chrysler Automobile, where he was Head of Manufacturing in Auburn Hills, Mich.

Owusu has held a number of manufacturing leadership roles within FCA, and started as the plant lead for the premium cooking facility June 4. He will report to Byron Green, vice president of North America Region manufacturing.

Owusu holds a masters of business administration degree from Michigan State University, as well as a bachelor of science degree from Columbia University.

Whirlpool-Cleveland is the largest employer in Bradley County.

GORENJE UPDATE

Japan’s Panasonic has accepted the takeover bid by Hisense Luxembourg Holding of the Chinese group Hisense and is to sell its entire 10.74% stake in Gorenje, the Slovenian household appliances maker announced in a press release on Friday.

New Haier factory in Russia

The Minister of Economy of Tatarstan Farid Abdulganiev, the Mayor of Naberezhnye Chelny Nail Magdeev and representatives of the Chinese delegation took part in a groundbreaking ceremony for a new production facility for washing machines. The plant, which is scheduled to be operational in 2019, is located in Naberezhnye Chelny (Tatarstan).

The washing machines produced in Naberezhnye Chelny, according to a press release from the Ministry of Economic Development of the Republic of Tatarstan, are aimed at customers in Russia, but also those located in CIS countries and Europe.

Investments in a high-tech washing machine factory (29’000m2) are estimated with RUR 3.9 billion (EUR 53,7 million).

Elica

Elica group reported a good performance for the starting of the present year and a very good trend has been recorded by the products signed by the Elica brand itself, even if it was a good period also for the OEM production.
During the first quarter 2018, Elica recorded a consolidated revenue of 118.9 million of euro, up 0.3% compared with same period of the previous year but with a growth of 6% net with a currency and the changing to the consolidation scope, with the sale of the German subsidiary Exklusiv-Hauben Gutmann on August 2017. According to the company, there was a growth across all business areas, but it was particularly strong for Elica own brand sales, that increased by 6.3%, net of the currency effect. The brand contribution to the total sales revenue rose from 45.4 to 46.5% in the first quarter of this year, in line with the Group target to exceed 55%. Regarding the geographical area, Elica saw a big growth in the Asian markets, where the Group reached an increase of 11.5% (21.3% net of the currency effect). In the EMEA regions, the growth was of 5.3%, with a significant contribution especially by Russia and the Eastern countries, while the rest of the markets remained substantially stable
