Danfoss is preparing to divest its Appliance Controls business in a move that will see the operation continue under new ownership as Frion Group.
The business is being acquired by Andrej Debnar and Peter Haas, two long-standing Danfoss managers based at the company’s manufacturing facility in Zlaté Moravce, Slovakia. The transaction is expected to be completed by the end of November, with Frion Group taking over operations from 1 December 2026.
More than 70 years of appliance expertise
Danfoss Appliance Controls has a long history in temperature control, with more than seven decades of experience in electromechanical thermostats and temperature-control solutions.
Its products have applications across refrigeration and domestic appliance markets, making the business particularly relevant to the wider white goods supply chain. The company has operated in Slovakia for 20 years, having marked the anniversary in 2025.
Under the deal, all 64 employees currently working in the Appliance Controls operation will transfer to Frion Group. The new company will also take over the existing Zlaté Moravce facilities, production equipment and operations.
Familiar faces at the helm
The new owners bring considerable experience from within Danfoss.
Debnar has spent more than 21 years with the company and currently serves as plant manager, while Haas has accumulated 18 years with Danfoss across two periods and is currently operations manager at the Slovakian facility.
For customers, the management team is emphasising continuity rather than a major change of direction.
The new owners say their immediate priority will be maintaining existing products, quality standards and customer relationships, while independence should give Frion Group greater freedom to focus specifically on developing the Appliance Controls business.
What does the move mean for white goods?
For manufacturers and suppliers in the white goods sector, the change is significant because temperature control remains an important component in the performance and reliability of appliances such as refrigerators and freezers.
The creation of an independent specialist company could allow Frion Group to concentrate its resources on appliance controls and temperature-management technology, while building on the established production expertise of the Zlaté Moravce team.
At the same time, the transfer of the existing workforce and facilities should provide reassurance to customers looking for continuity during the ownership change.
A new chapter for an established business
Danfoss has increasingly focused its Climate Solutions activities on areas including refrigeration, HVAC, heat pumps and other higher-growth markets. Its Climate Solutions business reported strong organic sales growth during the first half of 2026, driven in part by demand from data centres and heat pumps.
The Appliance Controls sale therefore represents a new chapter for a business with a long-standing position in the appliance and refrigeration industries.
With the transaction expected to complete before the end of November, Frion Group will begin operating independently from 1 December 2026.
For the white goods industry, the key message appears to be continuity: the people, production site and established expertise remain in place, but under a new independent ownership structure.
