LG Electronics has introduced its first home butler robot, “Q9,” at an event in Seoul. Set for release next year, Q9 is designed to be the central hub of an AI-powered home, capable of performing various tasks with home appliances based on user commands. For example, it can find and play movies or adjust lighting and music to improve the user’s mood.
Q9 features a gravity compensation device for stable movement and is equipped with OpenAI’s GPT-4 Omni, enabling it to create spontaneous stories. The robot’s official name and price are yet to be decided, but it is expected to be linked with home appliance subscription services to reduce consumer costs.
The home robot market is projected to grow significantly, with Q9 positioned to become a key player by offering emotional interaction and advanced home assistant capabilities.
